Claims
- 1. A wireless data retrieval device comprising:
a first-in-first-out (FIFO) memory queue for storing standardized correspondence information; and an input/output device configured to transmit said standardized correspondence information to and receive said standardized correspondence information from a wireless channel.
- 2. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 1, wherein said FIFO memory queue is a linked list.
- 3. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 1, further comprising:
a system memory that stores a data transfer program configured to translate said standardized correspondence information into a format usable by an operating system of a personal digital assistant (PDA) operating system; and a processor configured to access information contained in said system memory and said FIFO memory queue.
- 4. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 3, further comprising a user-operated input interface for delivering commands to said processor.
- 5. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 4, wherein said user-operated input interface comprises a mouse, a stylus, a rollerball, or a button.
- 6. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 3, wherein said system memory stores a plurality of operating systems usable by said processor.
- 7. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 1, further comprising a display device that displays contents of said FIFO memory queue.
- 8. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 7, further comprising a data pointer that provides said contents of said FIFO memory queue to said display device.
- 9. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 1, wherein said FIFO memory queue comprises a plurality of linked lists, wherein each of said plurality of linked lists stores a designated category of correspondence information.
- 10. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 9, further comprising a multiplexor for delivering incoming correspondence information into a specified one of said plurality of linked lists.
- 11. The wireless data retrieval device of claim 9, further comprising a demultiplexor for retrieving data objects from among said plurality of linked lists, wherein said data objects correspond to a given data retrieval request.
- 12. A method for dispensing correspondence data to and from a digital system over a wireless medium, said method comprising:
storing standardized correspondence information into a first-in-first-out (FIFO) memory queue; and transmitting said standardized correspondence information to and receiving said standardized correspondence information from a wireless channel.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein said step of storing standardized correspondence information into a FIFO memory queue further comprises adding said standardized correspondence information as a sequence of data objects in a linked list.
- 14. The method of claim 12, further comprising:
translating said standardized correspondence information into a format usable by an operating system of a personal digital assistant (PDA) operating system; and utilizing a user-operated input interface to access information contained in said FIFO memory queue.
- 15. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying contents of said FIFO memory queue on a user-readable display device.
- 16. The method of claim 15, further comprising a data pointer that provides said contents of said FIFO memory queue to said user-readable display device.
- 17. The method of claim 12, wherein said FIFO memory queue comprises a plurality of linked lists, said method further comprising storing a designated category of correspondence information within each of said plurality of linked lists.
- 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising multiplexing incoming correspondence information into a specified one of said plurality of linked lists.
- 19. The method of claim 17, further comprising demultiplexing data objects from among said plurality of linked lists, wherein said data objects correspond to a given data retrieval request.
