Claims
- 1. An article for use in the lost wax investment casting process, comprising;
- a pad having a surface portion at least partly predeterminedly patterned for producing asperities and increasing bondability in a cast surface derived therefrom, and a non-porous portion backing affixed to said patterned portion, said pad being eliminatable at temperatures employed during the lost wax investment casting process, said patterned portion being fixedly conformable to, and releasably attachable, by a bonding agent to a predetermined surface.
- 2. The article of claim 1 wherein said patterned surface portion is composed of different material than said backing portion.
- 3. The article of claim 1 wherein said backing portion includes a pressure sensitive wax.
- 4. The article of claim 1 wherein said surface portion has a mesh pattern.
- 5. The article of claim 4 wherein said mesh is a woven polymer.
- 6. The article of claim 1 wherein said backing portion includes a barrier layer abutting said patterned surface portion.
- 7. The article of claim 1 wherein said predetermined surface is a model of a tooth surface.
- 8. The article of claim 1 wherein said pads have predetermined shapes utilizable for dental applications.
