Claims
- 1. A composition for topically treating melanoma comprising an effective amount of betulinic acid modified at the C-28 position and a carrier wherein the modified betulinicacid has the structure: ##STR22## wherein R.sub.i is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.16 alkyl.
- 2. A method of inhibiting growth of a human melanoma comprising topically applying a therapeutically effective amount of the composition of claim 1 to the melanoma.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein R.sub.i is H.
- 4. A method of preventing melanoma comprising topically applying an effective amount of a composition of claim 1 to human skin.
