The method of claim 1, further comprising continually updating each sector within each PCR within the plurality of processor clusters such that each processor of the plurality of processor clusters has access to information stored in its respective PCR without loading such information from system memory.
- 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of transmitting the information over the network from the associated processor.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of transmitting comprises utilizing a private protocol over a standard data network that allows a special data packet to be transmitted between clusters.
- 9. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of transmitting comprises utilizing unique Internet Protocol addresses used only for storing data into PCRs over a standard data network.
- 10. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of transmitting comprises utilizing a separate data network dedicated to, at least, transmitting processor communication information to PCRs.
- 11. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of transmitting comprises utilizing a wireless data network dedicated to, at least, transmitting processor communication information to PCRs.
- 12. A method of processor communication in a multi-processor system containing a plurality of processor clusters interconnected by a network, wherein each processor cluster contains at least one processor having a processor communication register (PCR) that provides its processor continuous access to information stored within the PCR, wherein each PCR contains a plurality of sectors and each sector of the plurality of sectors is allocated for storing by only an associated processor within the plurality of processor clusters, the method comprising the steps of:
retrieving the same information from each of two PCRs within the plurality of processor clusters; transmitting information over the network from the associated processor; receiving information at each PCR within the plurality of processor clusters that is transmitted over the network from the associated processor; storing the received information at each PCR within the plurality of processor clusters in the sector allocated for storing by the associated processor; and updating each sector within each PCR within the plurality of processor clusters by storing information received from the associated processor without loading such information from system memory.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the network is a standard data network having a private protocol that allows a special data packet to be transmitted between clusters.
- 14. The method of claim 12, wherein the network is a standard data network transmitting unique Internet Protocol addresses used only for storing data into PCRs.
- 15. The method of claim 12, wherein the network is a separate data network dedicated to, at least, transmitting processor communication information to PCRs.
- 16. The method of claim 12, wherein the network is a wireless data network dedicated to, at least, transmitting processor communication information to PCRs.
- 17. A multiprocessor system comprising:
a plurality of processor clusters, wherein each processor cluster contains at least one processor containing a processor communication register (PCR) having a plurality of sectors, wherein each processor in the plurality of processor clusters has access to its PCR and can retrieve information stored in each sector of the plurality of sectors, and wherein each sector of the plurality of sectors within each PCR in the plurality of processor clusters is each allocated for storing by only an associated processor within the plurality of processor clusters, and wherein each processor within the plurality of processor clusters updates its associated sector within the plurality of sectors in each PCR within the plurality of processor clusters such that when a sector is updated by its associated processor, each processor containing a PCR is enabled for immediate access to the updated information; and a network interconnecting the plurality of processor clusters such that an associated processor within a processor cluster of the plurality of processor clusters updates its associated sector within each PCR within other processor clusters of the plurality of processor clusters by transmitting the information over the network.
- 18. The multiprocessor system of claim 17, wherein the information is useful to the plurality of processor clusters in coordinating pipelined or parallel multi-processing.
- 19. The multiprocessor system of claim 17, wherein each processor within the plurality of processor clusters has access to information stored in each updated sector of the plurality of sectors without retrieving such information from system memory.
