Claims
- 1. A method for coating a size-press roll, paper or board or equivalent moving base, comprising the steps of:
- applying a loading pressure against a revolving coating bar of a coating device such that said coating bar is fitted against a moving base, said coating bar extending in a transverse direction across a width of said moving base,
- applying a coating agent from said coating device onto said moving base in the running direction of said moving base before said coating bar,
- supporting said coating bar substantially over its entire length by means of a cradle,
- spreading and smoothing the coating agent on said moving base by means of said coating bar, and
- regulating the loading pressure of said coating bar in the transverse direction by adjusting the degree of flatness of a loading hose in said coating device such that the quantity of the coating agent remaining on said moving base after said coating bar is regulated.
- 2. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said coating bar has a diameter greater than about 18 mm.
- 3. A method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising the step of:
- loading said coating bar with forces of different magnitudes at different points in the transverse direction.
- 4. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said coating bar has a diameter of about 35 mm.
- 5. A method for coating a size-press roll, paper or board or equivalent moving base, comprising the steps of:
- applying a loading pressure against a revolving coating bar of a coating device such that said coating bar is fitted against a moving base, said coating bar extending in a transverse direction across a width of said moving base,
- introducing a coating agent into a pressurized coating-agent chamber in said coating device,
- applying the coating agent from said pressurized coating-agent chamber onto said moving base in the running direction of said moving base before said coating bar,
- supporting said coating bar substantially over its entire length by means of a cradle,
- spreading and smoothing the coating agent on said moving base by means of said coating bar, and
- regulating the loading pressure of said coating bar in the transverse direction by adjusting the degree of flatness of a loading hose in said coating device such that the quantity of the coating agent remaining on said moving base after said coating bar is regulated.
- 6. A method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising the step of:
- loading said coating bar with forces of different magnitudes at different points in the transverse direction.
- 7. A method as claimed in claim 5, wherein said coating bar has a diameter greater than about 18 mm.
- 8. A method as claimed in claim 5, wherein said coating bar has a diameter of about 35mm.
- 9. A coating device for coating a size-press roll, paper or board or an equivalent moving base, comprising
- a moving base,
- a revolving coating bar extending across said moving base in a transverse direction, said revolving coating bar being loaded against said moving base,
- a cradle, said revolving coating bar being supported by said cradle substantially across its length in said transverse direction,
- means for applying a coating agent onto said moving base before said revolving coating bar in the running direction of the moving base, said revolving coating bar structured and arranged to spread and smooth the coating agent on said moving base, and
- regulating means for regulating a loading pressure of said revolving coating bar in said transverse direction and thereby regulate the quantity of the coating agent remaining on said moving base after said revolving coating bar, said regulating means comprising a loading hose located in said coating device and means for adjusting the extent of flatness of said loading hose.
- 10. The coating device as claimed in claim 9, wherein said revolving coating bar has a diameter greater than about 18 mm.
- 11. The coating device as claimed in claim 9, wherein said revolving coating bar has a diameter of about 35 mm.
