Claims
- 1. A drug delivery device, comprising:a drug container having an opening and a convex shaped membrane material comprising a nozzle area with a plurality of pores therein wherein the pores have an exit aperture diameter in a range of from about 0.5 to about 50 microns: and a vibrator in connection with said convex shaped membrane material for vibrating said convex shaped membrane material.
- 2. The device of claim 1, wherein the pores are positioned at a distance in a range of about 30 to about 70 microns apart from each other.
- 3. The device of claim 1, wherein the pores are conical.
- 4. The device of claim 1, wherein the nozzle area with pores therein has 100 or more pores.
- 5. The device of claim 1, wherein the nozzle area with pores therein has 200 or more pores.
- 6. The device of claim 1, wherein the vibrator is an ultrasonic vibrator.
- 7. The device of claim 1, wherein the pores have a diameter of about 0.5 to 4.0 microns.
- 8. The device of claim 1, wherein the nozzle area has from about 1×101 to about 1×104 pores per square millimeter.
- 9. A method, comprising the steps of:moving a liquid flowable formulation through pores of a sheet of flexible membrane material having a nozzle area which area has a plurality of pores therein wherein the pores have an unflexed exit aperture diameter in a range of about 0.5 to about 50 microns which pores are positioned at a distance in a range of about 30 to about 70 microns apart from each other and thereby creating an aerosol; administering the aerosol to a patient.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the pores have an unflexed exit aperture diameter in a range of from about 0.5 to about 5 microns and the aerosol is administered by being inhaled into lungs of the patient.
