This disclosure relates to a wireless communication system.
Sidelink (SL) communication is a communication scheme in which a direct link is established between User Equipments (UEs) and the UEs exchange voice and data directly with each other without intervention of an evolved Node B (eNB). SL communication is under consideration as a solution to the overhead of an eNB caused by rapidly increasing data traffic. Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) refers to a communication technology through which a vehicle exchanges information with another vehicle, a pedestrian, an object having an infrastructure (or infra) established therein, and so on. The V2X may be divided into 4 types, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-network (V2N), and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P). The V2X communication may be provided via a PC5 interface and/or Uu interface.
Meanwhile, as a wider range of communication devices require larger communication capacities, the need for mobile broadband communication that is more enhanced than the existing Radio Access Technology (RAT) is rising. Accordingly, discussions are made on services and user equipment (UE) that are sensitive to reliability and latency. And, a next generation radio access technology that is based on the enhanced mobile broadband communication, massive Machine Type Communication (MTC), Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communication (URLLC), and so on, may be referred to as a new radio access technology (RAT) or new radio (NR). Herein, the NR may also support vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.
Regarding V2X communication, a scheme of providing a safety service, based on a V2X message such as Basic Safety Message (BSM), Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM), and Decentralized Environmental Notification Message (DENM) is focused in the discussion on the RAT used before the NR. The V2X message may include position information, dynamic information, attribute information, or the like. For example, a UE may transmit a periodic message type CAM and/or an event triggered message type DENM to another UE.
Thereafter, regarding V2X communication, various V2X scenarios are proposed in NR. For example, the various V2X scenarios may include vehicle platooning, advanced driving, extended sensors, remote driving, or the like.
Meanwhile, if discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle configurations are different between UEs in a group in which groupcast communication is performed, a UE B may not receive data transmitted by a UE A during an active time period of the UE B. Accordingly, the DRX cycle need to be aligned between UEs in a group in which groupcast communication is performed.
In one embodiment, provided is a method for performing wireless communication by a first device. The method may comprise: selecting a sidelink (SL) discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for groupcast communication from among at least one SL DRX configuration, wherein the SL DRX configuration includes information related to a DRX cycle and information related to an active time; transmitting, to at least one second device within a group, first sidelink control information (SCI) for scheduling a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) through a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH); transmitting, to the at least one second device, second SCI including information related to the SL DRX configuration and a destination ID through the PSSCH; and performing, based on the SL DRX configuration, the groupcast communication with the at least one second device.
In one embodiment, provided is a first device adapted to perform wireless communication. The first device may comprise: one or more memories storing instructions; one or more transceivers; and one or more processors connected to the one or more memories and the one or more transceivers. For example, the one or more processors may execute the instructions to: select a sidelink (SL) discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for groupcast communication from among at least one SL DRX configuration, wherein the SL DRX configuration includes information related to a DRX cycle and information related to an active time; transmit, to at least one second device within a group, first sidelink control information (SCI) for scheduling a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) through a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH); transmit, to the at least one second device, second SCI including information related to the SL DRX configuration and a destination ID through the PSSCH; and perform, based on the SL DRX configuration, the groupcast communication with the at least one second device.
Power consumption of the UE can be saved.

A technical feature described individually in one figure in the present specification may be individually implemented, or may be simultaneously implemented.
The technology described below may be used in various wireless communication systems such as code division multiple access (CDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA), and so on. The CDMA may be implemented with a radio technology, such as universal terrestrial radio access (UTRA) or CDMA-2000. The TDMA may be implemented with a radio technology, such as global system for mobile communications (GSM)/general packet ratio service (GPRS)/enhanced data rate for GSM evolution (EDGE). IEEE 802.16m is an evolved version of IEEE 802.16e and provides backward compatibility with a system based on the IEEE 802.16e. The UTRA is part of a universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS). 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) long term evolution (LTE) is part of an evolved UMTS (E-UMTS) using the E-UTRA. The 3GPP LTE uses the OFDMA in a downlink and uses the SC-FDMA in an uplink. LTE-advanced (LTE-A) is an evolution of the LTE.
5G NR is a successive technology of LTE-A corresponding to a new Clean-slate type mobile communication system having the characteristics of high performance, low latency, high availability, and so on. 5G NR may use resources of all spectrum available for usage including low frequency bands of less than 1 GHz, middle frequency bands ranging from 1 GHz to 10 GHz, high frequency (millimeter waves) of 24 GHz or more, and so on.
For clarity in the description, the following description will mostly focus on LTE-A or 5G NR. However, technical features according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will not be limited only to this.

The embodiment of
Layers of a radio interface protocol between the UE and the network can be classified into a first layer (layer 1, L1), a second layer (layer 2, L2), and a third layer (layer 3, L3) based on the lower three layers of the open system interconnection (OSI) model that is well-known in the communication system. Among them, a physical (PHY) layer belonging to the first layer provides an information transfer service by using a physical channel, and a radio resource control (RRC) layer belonging to the third layer serves to control a radio resource between the UE and the network. For this, the RRC layer exchanges an RRC message between the UE and the BS.
Referring to
Between different physical layers, i.e., a physical layer of a transmitter and a physical layer of a receiver, data are transferred through the physical channel. The physical channel is modulated using an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme, and utilizes time and frequency as a radio resource.
The MAC layer provides services to a radio link control (RLC) layer, which is a higher layer of the MAC layer, via a logical channel. The MAC layer provides a function of mapping multiple logical channels to multiple transport channels. The MAC layer also provides a function of logical channel multiplexing by mapping multiple logical channels to a single transport channel. The MAC layer provides data transfer services over logical channels.
The RLC layer performs concatenation, segmentation, and reassembly of Radio Link Control Service Data Unit (RLC SDU). In order to ensure diverse quality of service (QoS) required by a radio bearer (RB), the RLC layer provides three types of operation modes, i.e., a transparent mode (TM), an unacknowledged mode (UM), and an acknowledged mode (AM). An AM RLC provides error correction through an automatic repeat request (ARQ).
A radio resource control (RRC) layer is defined only in the control plane. The RRC layer serves to control the logical channel, the transport channel, and the physical channel in association with configuration, reconfiguration and release of RBs. The RB is a logical path provided by the first layer (i.e., the physical layer or the PHY layer) and the second layer (i.e., a MAC layer, an RLC layer, a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer, and a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer) for data delivery between the UE and the network.
Functions of a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer in the user plane include user data delivery, header compression, and ciphering. Functions of a PDCP layer in the control plane include control-plane data delivery and ciphering/integrity protection.
A service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer is defined only in a user plane. The SDAP layer performs mapping between a Quality of Service (QoS) flow and a data radio bearer (DRB) and QoS flow ID (QFI) marking in both DL and UL packets.
The configuration of the RB implies a process for specifying a radio protocol layer and channel properties to provide a particular service and for determining respective detailed parameters and operations. The RB can be classified into two types, i.e., a signaling RB (SRB) and a data RB (DRB). The SRB is used as a path for transmitting an RRC message in the control plane. The DRB is used as a path for transmitting user data in the user plane.
When an RRC connection is established between an RRC layer of the UE and an RRC layer of the E-UTRAN, the UE is in an RRC CONNECTED state, and, otherwise, the UE may be in an RRC IDLE state. In case of the NR, an RRC INACTIVE state is additionally defined, and a UE being in the RRC INACTIVE state may maintain its connection with a core network whereas its connection with the BS is released.
Data is transmitted from the network to the UE through a downlink transport channel. Examples of the downlink transport channel include a broadcast channel (BCH) for transmitting system information and a downlink-shared channel (SCH) for transmitting user traffic or control messages. Traffic of downlink multicast or broadcast services or the control messages can be transmitted on the downlink-SCH or an additional downlink multicast channel (MCH). Data is transmitted from the UE to the network through an uplink transport channel. Examples of the uplink transport channel include a random access channel (RACH) for transmitting an initial control message and an uplink SCH for transmitting user traffic or control messages.
Examples of logical channels belonging to a higher channel of the transport channel and mapped onto the transport channels include a broadcast channel (BCCH), a paging control channel (PCCH), a common control channel (CCCH), a multicast control channel (MCCH), a multicast traffic channel (MTCH), etc.

In case of using a normal CP, each slot may include 14 symbols. In case of using an extended CP, each slot may include 12 symbols. Herein, a symbol may include an OFDM symbol (or CP-OFDM symbol) and a Single Carrier-FDMA (SC-FDMA) symbol (or Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol).
Table 1 shown below represents an example of a number of symbols per slot (Nslotsymb), a number slots per frame (Nframe, uslot), and a number of slots per subframe (Nsubframe, uslot) based on an SCS configuration (u), in a case where a normal CP is used.
Table 2 shows an example of a number of symbols per slot, a number of slots per frame, and a number of slots per subframe based on the SCS, in a case where an extended CP is used.
In an NR system, OFDM(A) numerologies (e.g., SCS, CP length, and so on) between multiple cells being integrate to one UE may be differently configured. Accordingly, a (absolute time) duration (or section) of a time resource (e.g., subframe, slot or TTI) (collectively referred to as a time unit (TU) for simplicity) being configured of the same number of symbols may be differently configured in the integrated cells.
In the NR, multiple numerologies or SCSs for supporting diverse 5G services may be supported. For example, in case an SCS is 15 kHz, a wide area of the conventional cellular bands may be supported, and, in case an SCS is 30 kHz/60 kHz a dense-urban, lower latency, wider carrier bandwidth may be supported. In case the SCS is 60 kHz or higher, a bandwidth that is greater than 24.25 GHz may be used in order to overcome phase noise.
An NR frequency band may be defined as two different types of frequency ranges. The two different types of frequency ranges may be FR1 and FR2. The values of the frequency ranges may be changed (or varied), and, for example, the two different types of frequency ranges may be as shown below in Table 3. Among the frequency ranges that are used in an NR system, FR1 may mean a “sub 6 GHz range”, and FR2 may mean an “above 6 GHz range” and may also be referred to as a millimeter wave (mmW).
As described above, the values of the frequency ranges in the NR system may be changed (or varied). For example, as shown below in Table 4, FR1 may include a band within a range of 410 MHz to 7125 MHz. More specifically, FR1 may include a frequency band of 6 GHz (or 5850, 5900, 5925 MHz, and so on) and higher. For example, a frequency band of 6 GHz (or 5850, 5900, 5925 MHz, and so on) and higher being included in FR1 mat include an unlicensed band. The unlicensed band may be used for diverse purposes, e.g., the unlicensed band for vehicle-specific communication (e.g., automated driving).

A carrier includes a plurality of subcarriers in a frequency domain. A Resource Block (RB) may be defined as a plurality of consecutive subcarriers (e.g., 12 subcarriers) in the frequency domain. A Bandwidth Part (BWP) may be defined as a plurality of consecutive (Physical) Resource Blocks ((P)RBs) in the frequency domain, and the BWP may correspond to one numerology (e.g., SCS, CP length, and so on). A carrier may include a maximum of N number BWPs (e.g., 5 BWPs). Data communication may be performed via an activated BWP. Each element may be referred to as a Resource Element (RE) within a resource grid and one complex symbol may be mapped to each element.
Hereinafter, a bandwidth part (BWP) and a carrier will be described.
The BWP may be a set of consecutive physical resource blocks (PRBs) in a given numerology. The PRB may be selected from consecutive sub-sets of common resource blocks (CRB s) for the given numerology on a given carrier
For example, the BWP may be at least any one of an active BWP, an initial BWP, and/or a default BWP. For example, the UE may not monitor downlink radio link quality in a DL BWP other than an active DL BWP on a primary cell (PCell). For example, the UE may not receive PDCCH, physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), or channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) (excluding RRM) outside the active DL BWP. For example, the UE may not trigger a channel state information (CSI) report for the inactive DL BWP. For example, the UE may not transmit physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) outside an active UL BWP. For example, in a downlink case, the initial BWP may be given as a consecutive RB set for a remaining minimum system information (RMSI) control resource set (CORESET) (configured by physical broadcast channel (PBCH)). For example, in an uplink case, the initial BWP may be given by system information block (SIB) for a random access procedure. For example, the default BWP may be configured by a higher layer. For example, an initial value of the default BWP may be an initial DL BWP. For energy saving, if the UE fails to detect downlink control information (DCI) during a specific period, the UE may switch the active BWP of the UE to the default BWP.
Meanwhile, the BWP may be defined for SL. The same SL BWP may be used in transmission and reception. For example, a transmitting UE may transmit an SL channel or an SL signal on a specific BWP, and a receiving UE may receive the SL channel or the SL signal on the specific BWP. In a licensed carrier, the SL BWP may be defined separately from a Uu BWP, and the SL BWP may have configuration signaling separate from the Uu BWP. For example, the UE may receive a configuration for the SL BWP from the BS/network. For example, the UE may receive a configuration for the Uu BWP from the BS/network. The SL BWP may be (pre-)configured in a carrier with respect to an out-of-coverage NR V2X UE and an RRC_IDLE UE. For the UE in the RRC_CONNECTED mode, at least one SL BWP may be activated in the carrier.
Referring to
The BWP may be configured by a point A, an offset NstartBWP from the point A, and a bandwidth NsizeBWP. For example, the point A may be an external reference point of a PRB of a carrier in which a subcarrier 0 of all numerologies (e.g., all numerologies supported by a network on that carrier) is aligned. For example, the offset may be a PRB interval between a lowest subcarrier and the point A in a given numerology. For example, the bandwidth may be the number of PRBs in the given numerology.
Hereinafter, V2X or SL communication will be described.
A sidelink synchronization signal (SLSS) may include a primary sidelink synchronization signal (PSSS) and a secondary sidelink synchronization signal (SSSS), as an SL-specific sequence. The PSSS may be referred to as a sidelink primary synchronization signal (S-PSS), and the SSSS may be referred to as a sidelink secondary synchronization signal (S-SSS). For example, length-127 M-sequences may be used for the S-PSS, and length-127 gold sequences may be used for the S-SSS. For example, a UE may use the S-PSS for initial signal detection and for synchronization acquisition. For example, the UE may use the S-PSS and the S-SSS for acquisition of detailed synchronization and for detection of a synchronization signal ID.
A physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH) may be a (broadcast) channel for transmitting default (system) information which must be first known by the UE before SL signal transmission/reception. For example, the default information may be information related to SLSS, a duplex mode (DM), a time division duplex (TDD) uplink/downlink (UL/DL) configuration, information related to a resource pool, a type of an application related to the SLSS, a subframe offset, broadcast information, or the like. For example, for evaluation of PSBCH performance, in NR V2X, a payload size of the PSBCH may be 56 bits including 24-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC).
The S-PSS, the S-SSS, and the PSBCH may be included in a block format (e.g., SL synchronization signal (SS)/PSBCH block, hereinafter, sidelink-synchronization signal block (S-SSB)) supporting periodical transmission. The S-SSB may have the same numerology (i.e., SCS and CP length) as a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH)/physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) in a carrier, and a transmission bandwidth may exist within a (pre-)configured sidelink (SL) BWP. For example, the S-SSB may have a bandwidth of 11 resource blocks (RBs). For example, the PSBCH may exist across 11 RBs. In addition, a frequency position of the S-SSB may be (pre-)configured. Accordingly, the UE does not have to perform hypothesis detection at frequency to discover the S-SSB in the carrier.
Referring to
For example, the UE 1 may select a resource unit corresponding to a specific resource in a resource pool which implies a set of series of resources. In addition, the UE 1 may transmit an SL signal by using the resource unit. For example, a resource pool in which the UE 1 is capable of transmitting a signal may be configured to the UE 2 which is a receiving UE, and the signal of the UE 1 may be detected in the resource pool.
Herein, if the UE 1 is within a connectivity range of the BS, the BS may inform the UE 1 of the resource pool. Otherwise, if the UE 1 is out of the connectivity range of the BS, another UE may inform the UE 1 of the resource pool, or the UE 1 may use a pre-configured resource pool.
In general, the resource pool may be configured in unit of a plurality of resources, and each UE may select a unit of one or a plurality of resources to use it in SL signal transmission thereof.
Hereinafter, resource allocation in SL will be described.
For example, (a) of
For example, (b) of
Referring to (a) of
Referring to (b) of
Hereinafter, a sidelink control information (SCI) will be described.
Control information transmitted by a BS to a UE through a PDCCH may be referred to as downlink control information (DCI), whereas control information transmitted by the UE to another UE through a PSCCH may be referred to as SCI. For example, the UE may know in advance a start symbol of the PSCCH and/or the number of symbols of the PSCCH, before decoding the PSCCH. For example, the SCI may include SL scheduling information. For example, the UE may transmit at least one SCI to another UE to schedule the PSSCH. For example, one or more SCI formats may be defined.
For example, a transmitting UE may transmit the SCI to a receiving UE on the PSCCH. The receiving UE may decode one SCI to receive the PSSCH from the transmitting UE.
For example, the transmitting UE may transmit two consecutive SCIs (e.g., 2-stage SCI) to the receiving UE on the PSCCH and/or the PSSCH. The receiving UE may decode the two consecutive SCIs (e.g., 2-stage SCI) to receive the PSSCH from the transmitting UE. For example, if SCI configuration fields are divided into two groups in consideration of a (relatively) high SCI payload size, an SCI including a first SCI configuration field group may be referred to as a first SCI or a 1st SCI, and an SCI including a second SCI configuration field group may be referred to as a second SCI or a 2nd SCI. For example, the transmitting UE may transmit the first SCI to the receiving UE through the PSCCH. For example, the transmitting UE may transmit the second SCI to the receiving UE on the PSCCH and/or the PSSCH. For example, the second SCI may be transmitted to the receiving UE through an (independent) PSCCH, or may be transmitted in a piggyback manner together with data through the PSSCH. For example, two consecutive SCIs may also be applied to different transmissions (e.g., unicast, broadcast, or groupcast).
For example, the transmitting UE may transmit the entirety or part of information described below to the receiving UE through the SCI. Herein, for example, the transmitting UE may transmit the entirety or part of the information described below to the receiving UE through the first SCI and/or the second SCI.
For example, the first SCI may include information related to channel sensing. For example, the receiving UE may decode the second SCI by using a PSSCH DMRS. A polar code used in a PDCCH may be applied to the second SCI. For example, in a resource pool, a payload size of the first SCI may be identical for unicast, groupcast, and broadcast. After decoding the first SCI, the receiving UE does not have to perform blind decoding of the second SCI. For example, the first SCI may include scheduling information of the second SCI.
Hereinafter, power saving will be described.
For the power saving method of the UE, UE adaptation for traffic and power consumption characteristics, adaptation according to change in frequency/time, adaption to the antenna(s), adaptation to discontinuous reception (DRX) configurations, adaptation to UE processing capability, adaptation for reduction of PDCCH monitoring/decoding, power saving signal/channel/procedure for triggering adaptation for UE power consumption, power consumption reduction during RRM measurement, etc. may be considered.
Hereinafter, as a method for implementing UE power saving, discontinuous reception (DRX) will be described.
The procedure of the UE related to the DRX may be summarized as Table 5.
Referring to
For example, if the DRX is configured, the UE attempts to receive a PDCCH, which is a downlink channel, only in a predetermined time period, and does not attempt to receive a PDCCH in the remaining time period. The time period during which the UE should attempt to receive the PDCCH is referred to as an on-duration, and the on-duration is defined once per DRX cycle.
The UE may receive DRX configuration information from the gNB through RRC signaling and operate as DRX through a reception of the (long) DRX command MAC CE.
The DRX configuration information may be included in MAC-CellGroupConfig. The MAC-CellGroupConfig IE is used to configure MAC parameters for a cell group, including DRX.
The DRX Command MAC CE or the long DRX Command MAC CE is identified by a MAC PDU subheader with LCID. It has a fixed size with zero bits.
Table 6 shows an example of values of LCID for DL-SCH.
The PDCCH monitoring operation of the UE is controlled by DRX and bandwidth adaptation (BA). Meanwhile, If DRX is configured, the UE does not have to continuously monitor a PDCCH. Meanwhile, DRX is characterized by the following.
Next, DRX described in the MAC layer will be described. The MAC entity used below may be expressed as a UE or a MAC entity of the UE.
The MAC entity may be configured by RRC with a DRX functionality that controls the UE's PDCCH monitoring activity for the MAC entity's C-RNTI, CS-RNTI, TPC-PUCCH-RNTI, TPC-PUSCH-RNTI, and TPC-SRS-RNTI. When using DRX operation, the MAC entity shall also monitor a PDCCH. When in RRC_ CONNECTED, if DRX is configured, the MAC entity may monitor a PDCCH discontinuously using the DRX operation. Otherwise, the MAC entity shall monitor a PDCCH continuously.
RRC controls DRX operation by configuring parameters related to DRX configuration information.
If a DRX cycle is configured, an active time includes the time while:
If DRX is configured, the MAC entity shall:
Regardless of whether the MAC entity is monitoring PDCCH or not, the MAC entity transmits HARQ feedback and type-1-triggered SRS when such is expected.
The MAC entity needs not to monitor the PDCCH if it is not a complete PDCCH occasion (e.g., the Active Time starts or expires in the middle of a PDCCH occasion).
In the present disclosure, the term “configuration/configured or definition/defined” may be interpreted as being (pre-)configured from the base station or the network (through predefined signaling (e.g., SIB, MAC signaling, RRC signaling)). For example, “A may be configured” may include “that the base station or the network (pre-)configures/defines or informs A to the UE”. Alternatively, the term “configuration/configured or definition/defined” may be interpreted as being pre-configured or pre-defined in the system. For example, “A may be configured” may include “that A is pre-configured/defined in the system”.
Meanwhile, in order to reduce power consumption of the UE in SL communication, the UE may not always monitor a transmission channel. That is, the UE may detect an SL signal or channel to be received by monitoring a transmission channel only if reception of a PSCCH and/or PSSCH is required, and the UE may perform decoding for the SL signal or channel.
Meanwhile, a DRX cycle may include (i) an active time when the UE monitors a transmission channel in an awake mode and, if necessary, detects/decodes an SL channel, and (ii) an inactive time when the UE is in a sleep mode (i.e., the UE does not need to monitor a channel).
For example, the active time may include (i) an OnDurationTimer duration in which the UE should be awake at the beginning of the DRX cycle, (ii) an InActivityTimer duration in which the UE should be additionally awake due to a high possibility of transmission of an additional SL signal or channel by other UE(s), after the OnDurationTimer expires, (iii) a RetransmissionTimer duration in which the UE should be additionally awake due to a high possibility of additional retransmission by another UE, after a certain transmission, etc.
For example, the inactive time may be all durations except for the active time within a DRX cycle representing an entire DRX duration. In particular, for example, the inactive time may include a HARQ-RTT-Timer duration configured to secure a processing time related to HARQ-based retransmission and a time required for retransmission.
For example, according to the length of a DRX cycle, the DRX cycle may include (i) a ‘DRX long cycle’ with a relatively long cycle length and (ii) a ‘DRX short cycle’ with a relatively short cycle length. For example, the start of the DRX long cycle and the DRX short cycle may be expressed as an offset value with respect to a reference timing. Herein, for example, the offset value may be StartOffset expressed as the number of subframe units. For example, the offset value may be SlotOffset expressed as the number of slot units.
Meanwhile, if DRX cycle configurations are different between UEs in a group in which groupcast communication is performed, a UE B may not receive data transmitted by a UE A during an active time period of the UE B. Accordingly, the DRX cycle need to be aligned between UEs in a group in which groupcast communication is performed.
Based on various embodiments of the present disclosure, in case that UEs in a group for SL groupcast perform DRX operations, a method for aligning operations related to the DRX cycle of each UE and device(s) supporting the same are proposed such that SL communication between UEs can be smoothly performed. In the present disclosure, DRX may refer to SL DRX.
Referring to
For example, if DRX cycle configurations are different between UEs in a group in which groupcast communication is performed, the UE B may not be able to receive data transmitted by the UE A during an active time period of the UE B. To solve this problem, a DRX cycle including an active time and an inactive time may be configured to align each other among all UEs in a group. To this end, for example, there may be a plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations pre-defined or configured by a higher layer or pre-configured, and a higher layer may configure index/information related to a specific DRX cycle configuration among the plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations to UEs in a group. For example, there may be a plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations pre-defined or configured by a higher layer or pre-configured, and a UE representing a group may select a specific DRX cycle configuration from among the plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations, and the UE representing the group may transmit index/information related to the specific DRX cycle configuration to UEs in the group. For example, the UE representing the group may be a group header UE. For example, there may be a plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations pre-defined or configured by a higher layer or pre-configured, and the base station/network may select a specific DRX cycle configuration from among the plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations, and the base station/network may transmit index/information related to the specific DRX cycle configuration to UEs in a group. For example, there may be a plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations pre-defined or configured by a higher layer or pre-configured, and the UE may select index/information related to a specific DRX cycle configuration from among the plurality of candidate DRX cycle configurations based on a predefined (implicit) rule.
For example, the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration may be determined/selected/configured based on an ID of the group. For example, the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration may be determined/selected/configured based on a zone ID of a zone to which the group belongs. For example, the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration may be determined/selected/configured based on an ID of the UE representing the group. For example, the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration may be determined/selected/configured based on the number of UEs belonging to the group. Through this, independent or different DRX cycle configurations may be used between different groups or between UEs belonging to different groups.
For example, if the group header UE in the group selects the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration to be used by group member UE(s), the group header UE may transmit/share the index related to the selected DRX cycle configuration to group member UE(s). In this case, the group header UE may transmit the index/information related to the selected DRX cycle configuration through SCI indicating a destination ID as a group ID, by using a specific DRX resource pool. For example, the group header UE may transmit SCI including the destination ID (i.e., group ID) and the index/information related to the selected DRX cycle configuration, by using the specific DRX resource pool. Herein, for example, the specific DRX resource pool may be a DRX resource pool that is defined for such as transmission of broadcast data as an initial operation or a fallback operation and may be commonly used by all DRX UEs. Accordingly, the group member UE(s) of the group can receive the destination ID (i.e., group ID) and the index/information related to the DRX cycle configuration through the SCI on the DRX resource pool always being monitored, and the group member UE(s) of the group may perform the DRX operation based on the DRX cycle configuration.
For example, the DRX cycle configuration may be determined/selected/configured based on the number of UEs belonging to the group (i.e., size of the group). In this case, timer value(s) such as OnDurationTimer, InactivityTimer, and/or RetransmissionTimer included in an active time within a DRX cycle may be determined/selected/set based on the size of the group. For example, if the size of the group is large, the timer value(s) may be set to a relatively large value, and if the size of the group is small, the timer value(s) may be set to a relatively small value. For example, if the size of the group is greater than a first threshold, the timer value (s) may be set to a value greater than a second threshold, and if the size of the group is less than a third threshold, the timer value(s) may be set to a value less than a fourth threshold. For example, the first threshold may be greater than or equal to the third threshold. For example, the second threshold may be greater than or equal to the fourth threshold. For example, the first to fourth thresholds may be predefined for the UE. For example, the first to fourth thresholds may be configured or pre-configured for the UE. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to the first to fourth thresholds to the UE. By doing this, even if the number of UEs belonging to the group is large, an active time period required for SL transmission and reception can be sufficiently secured.
For example, for the DRX cycle configuration selected according to the size of the group, UEs belonging to the group may use different sub-time periods by dividing an active time period into a plurality of TDMed sub-time periods. In this case, since different sub-time periods can be used among UEs belonging to the group, congestion in groupcast communication can be minimized. For example, a sub-time period to be used by a specific UE in the group may be determined/configured/selected based on at least one of a member ID, a source ID, and/or a destination ID in the group. For example, a sub-time period to be used by a specific UE in the group may be determined/configured/selected based on the ID information (e.g., at least one of the member ID, the source ID, and/or the destination ID in a group) and a zone ID according to a region in which UEs in the group move. In this way, if the UE uses the zone ID information mixed with the ID information, it is possible to avoid a case in which a specific UE is always placed in a disadvantageous situation when selecting a transmission resource by always using only a specific time domain within an active time period. That is, the transmission resource region can be randomized.
For example, the group header UE may adjust/determine the size of the group based on the selected DRX cycle configuration. For example, after the group header UE selects the DRX cycle configuration corresponding to ‘group size=N’ and shares it with the group member UE(s), if other UEs additionally want to join the group, the group header UE may reject join requests of other UEs, and the group header UE may maintain the size of the group within the maximum required size.
For example, as in the case described above, if more group member UEs join the group than the size of the group that the DRX cycle configuration selected by the group header UE can accommodate, the group header UE may select or be configured with a plurality of DRX cycle configurations. In this case, for example, member UE(s) belonging to a first group may use a first DRX cycle configuration, and member UE(s) belonging to a second group may use a second DRX cycle configuration. In this case, for example, a group member UE may determine/configure/select a DRX cycle configuration to be used based on at least one of a member ID, a source ID, and/or a destination ID within the group. For example, a group member UE may determine/configure/select a DRX cycle configuration to be used by itself, based on the ID information (e.g., at least one of the member ID, the source ID, and/or the destination ID within the group) and a zone ID according to a region in which UEs in the group move.
In step S1120, the UE may perform groupcast communication based on the DRX cycle configuration for groupcast communication.
Referring to
In step S1220, the UE may transmit first SCI through a PSCCH. For example, the first SCI may include information for scheduling a PSSCH and/or second SCI.
In step S1230, the UE may transmit the second SCI through the PSSCH. Additionally, for example, the UE may transmit data (e.g., MAC PDU or TB) through the PSSCH. For example, the second SCI may include a group ID (e.g., destination ID) and information/index related to an SL DRX configuration. Through this, the SL DRX configuration can be shared among UEs in the group, and the DRX cycle for groupcast communication can be aligned between UEs in the group.
In step S1240, the UE may transmit first SCI through a PSCCH based on the SL DRX configuration. For example, the first SCI may include information for scheduling a PSSCH and/or second SCI.
In step S1250, the UE may transmit the second SCI through the PSSCH based on the SL DRX configuration. Additionally, for example, the UE may transmit data (e.g., MAC PDU or TB) through the PSSCH based on the SL DRX configuration.
Based on various embodiments of the present disclosure, when UEs performing DRX operations perform groupcast communication, proposed are a method for aligning DRX cycle configurations between group member UEs such that SL communication between group member UEs can be performed, and device(s) supporting the same.
Based on the above-described embodiment, the SL DRX configuration may be shared between UEs within the group. Therefore, SL communication can be performed between UEs performing power saving within the group. Furthermore, since the SL DRX configurations can be configured differently for each group, interference between groups in which groupcast communication is performed can be minimized.
Based on various embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for a UE to perform SL communication based on DRX and device(s) supporting the same are proposed.
For example, the UE performing SL communication based on resource allocation mode 1 may receive a dynamic grant (DG) resource and/or a configured grant (CG) resource configured by the base station. For example, the UE may receive information related to the DG resource and/or information related to the CG resource from the base station. For example, the CG resource may include a CG type 1 resource or a CG type 2 resource. In the present disclosure, the DG resource may be a resource that the base station configures/allocates to the UE through DCI. In the present disclosure, the CG resource may be a (periodic) resource configured/allocated by the base station to the UE through DCI and/or an RRC message. For example, in the case of the CG type 1 resource, the base station may transmit an RRC message including information related to the CG resource to the UE. For example, in the case of the CG type 2 resource, the base station may transmit an RRC message including information related to the CG resource to the UE, and the base station may transmit DCI including information related to activation or release of the CG resource to the UE.
For example, the UE performing SL communication based on resource allocation mode 2 may select a resource for SL transmission through channel sensing within a resource pool configured by the base station. For example, the resource may include a dynamic resource or an SPS resource. In the present disclosure, the dynamic resource may be a resource that a UE selects within the resource pool based on sensing. In the present disclosure, the SPS resource may be a (periodic) resource that the UE selects within the resource pool based on sensing.
Meanwhile, a transmission period and data amount of data to be transmitted may be different for each UE. Due to this, it is almost impossible to predict an ON duration and an OFF duration in consideration of these various traffics with one DRX cycle described above. Therefore, a method for implementing the DRX function more efficiently is to configure DRX cycles suitable for each resource type according to the SL resources, and configure one DRX cycle by aggregating each DRX cycle suitable for the SL resources to determine the final ON duration and OFF duration. For convenience of description, one DRX cycle generated by aggregating a plurality of DRX cycles may be referred to as a global DRX cycle. In the present disclosure, a DRX cycle used for SL communication may be referred to as an SL DRX cycle or a DRX cycle.
In the embodiment of
Referring to
In step S1320, the first UE may aggregate at least one DRX cycle among the plurality of DRX cycles into one DRX cycle.
In step S1330, the first UE may perform SL communication (e.g., SL reception and/or SL transmission) based on the aggregated DRX cycle.
Referring to
In the present disclosure, a threshold may be predefined for the UE. In the present disclosure, a threshold may be pre-configured or configured for the UE by the base station/network. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to a threshold to the UE. In the present disclosure, a threshold may be configured by a higher layer of the UE.
For example, if the number of individual DRX cycles per SL process is greater than the threshold, the UE may no longer perform aggregation for individual DRX cycles. For example, the UE may perform aggregation for as many DRX cycles as the number of less than or equal to the threshold, and the UE may perform SL communication (e.g., SL transmission and/or SL reception) based on the aggregated DRX cycle.
For example, the UE performing SL communication based on DRX may transmit information related to its own DRX cycle aggregation capability to the other UE(s) or the base station. Through this, by aggregating individual DRX cycles, it is possible to prevent power consumption of the UE from exceeding a specific threshold.
For example, the UE performing SL communication based on DRX may transmit, to the other UE(s) or the base station, (i) information related to a DRX cycle aggregation capability of the UE and (ii) information related to the number of individual DRX cycles currently being aggregated by the UE. Through this, the other UE(s) or the base station may determine, based on the information, the number of SL processes that can be additionally generated within the DRX cycle aggregation capability of the UE.
For example, the UE performing SL communication based on DRX may receive SL information (e.g., PSCCH, PSSCH, PSFCH, etc.) from a peer UE based on a resource related to an SL process. In this case, for example, the UE may expect/determine that ON durations of each DRX cycle related to each SL process partially or entirely overlap with each other. For example, the UE may expect/determine that ON durations of each DRX cycle related to each SL process are adjacent to each other. For example, the TX UE may perform SL transmission such that ON durations of each DRX cycle related to each SL process partially or entirely overlap with each other. For example, the TX UE may perform SL transmission such that ON durations of each DRX cycle related to each SL process are adjacent to each other.
For example, initial transmission, retransmission, and/or HARQ-based retransmission, etc. for each SL process may all be performed within ON durations of each DRX cycle related to each SL process, and each DRX cycle based on burst transmission may not overlap with each other. That is, if an OFF duration is very long, the aggregated DRX cycle for individual DRX cycles operating as described above may be derived in the form of composed of short DRX cycles.
For example, the UE operating based on resource allocation mode 1 may expect/determine that the base station configures a DL resource and an SL resource such that a DL DRX cycle including DCI allocating a resource related to the SL process and the aggregated DRX cycle partially or entirely overlap each other. For example, the UE operating based on resource allocation mode 1 may expect/determine that the base station configures a DL resource and an SL resource such that a DL DRX cycle including DCI allocating a resource related to the SL process and the aggregated DRX cycle are adjacent to each other.
In the present disclosure, proposed are a method for the UE to configure the final DRX cycle by aggregating DRX cycles individually configured for each SL process, a method for configuring individual SL process to maximize power saving gain by aggregated DRX cycles and configuring DRX cycles accordingly, and device(s) supporting the same.
Meanwhile, since a periodic ON/OFF duration is applied within the DRX cycle, DRX-based communication may be suitable for providing a service requiring periodic data transmission. On the other hand, in the case of a service requiring aperiodic data transmission, if the UE periodically applies the DRX cycle, the power saving effect may also decrease, and the data reception success rate of the UE may also decrease. In order to solve the above disadvantages, a wake-up signal (WUS) may be used. For example, the WUS may be configured with a specific sequence, and the UE performing SL communication based on DRX may perform detection for the specific sequence. For example, the UE performing SL communication based on DRX may operate in a power saving mode by default, and the UE may perform only WUS detection by using minimum power in the power saving mode. For example, if the UE detects the WUS, the UE may perform monitoring of a transmission channel and decoding of the detected PSCCH/PSSCH.
Based on various embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for a UE to perform SL communication based on DRX and device(s) supporting the same are proposed.
Referring to
For example, all UEs performing SL communication may transmit and receive the WUS or information by using a resource within the DRX resource pool. On the other hand, for example, all UEs performing SL communication cannot transmit/receive the WUS or information by using a resource outside the DRX resource pool. For example, the information may be a message, a service, a packet, data, control information for DRX reception, etc.
For example, the DRX resource pool may consist of the relatively small number of burst time resources in the time domain, and the DRX resource pool may consist of the relatively large number of frequency resources or wide bandwidth frequency resources in the frequency domain. For example, compared to a general resource pool, the DRX resource pool may include the relatively small number of burst time resources in the time domain, and the DRX resource pool may include the relatively large number of frequency resources or wide bandwidth frequency resources in the frequency domain. For example, the DRX resource pool may consist of the relatively small number of continuous frequency resources or narrow bandwidth frequency resources in the frequency domain, and the DRX resource pool may be consist of the relatively large number of burst time resources in the time domain. For example, compared to a general resource pool, the DRX resource pool may include the relatively small number of continuous frequency resources or narrow bandwidth frequency resources in the frequency domain, and the DRX resource pool may include the relatively large number of burst time resources in the time domain.
For example, the DRX resource pool may be predefined for the UE. For example, the DRX resource pool may be configured by a higher layer of the UE. For example, the DRX resource pool may be configured or pre-configured for the UE. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to the DRX resource pool to the UE. In the present disclosure, the higher layer may include an application layer or a V2X layer.
For example, the DRX resource pool may be predefined for the UE to use only one or more specific subchannels. For example, the DRX resource pool may be configured by a higher layer of the UE to use only one or more specific subchannels. For example, the DRX resource pool may be configured or pre-configured for the UE to use only one or more specific subchannels. For example, the base station/network may transmit, to the UE, information regarding one or more specific subchannels related to the DRX resource pool.
For example, UEs that transmit and receive broadcast-related information may use a common DRX resource pool. For example, UEs may perform broadcast communication based on the common DRX resource pool. In the present disclosure, the information may include at least one of a PSCCH (e.g., control information), a PSSCH (e.g., control information and/or data), a PSFCH (e.g., feedback), a MAC PDU, a packet, a service, and/or a message.
For example, UEs that transmit and receive groupcast-related information in a group may use a common DRX resource pool. For example, UEs belonging to a first group may perform groupcast communication based on a first DRX resource pool.
For example, different DRX resource pools may be used between different groups. For example, different DRX resource pools may be non-overlapping DRX resource pools. For example, UEs belonging to a first group may perform groupcast communication based on a first DRX resource pool, and UEs belonging to a second group may perform groupcast communication based on a second DRX resource pool. Specifically, for example, the UE may be configured to determine a DRX resource pool to be used for groupcast communication based on at least one of a location, a zone ID, and/or a group ID of a group to which the UE belongs. For example, a first UE belonging to a first group may determine to use a first DRX resource pool for groupcast communication based on at least one of a location, a zone ID, and/or a group ID of the first group. For example, a second UE belonging to a second group may determine to use a second DRX resource pool for groupcast communication based on at least one of a location, a zone ID, and/or a group ID of the second group. For example, the first DRX resource pool may be different from the second DRX resource pool.
For example, UEs that transmit and receive unicast-related information may configure/determine a DRX resource pool based on at least one of a source ID, a destination ID, a zone ID, and/or a UE ID. Through this, different DRX resource pools may be used between UE pairs performing different unicast communications. For example, if first unicast communication is performed between a first UE and a second UE and second unicast communication is performed between a third UE and a fourth UE, a DRX resource pool used for the first unicast communication may be different from a DRX resource pool used for the second unicast communication. For example, if first unicast communication is performed between a first UE and a second UE and second unicast communication is performed between the first UE and a third UE, a DRX resource pool used for the first unicast communication may be different from a DRX resource pool used for the second unicast communication.
For example, the TX UE may transmit an S-SSB to the RX UE on a resource within a DRX resource pool, and the RX UE may detect/monitor the S-SSB on the resource within the DRX resource pool. For example, the RX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX.
For example, the TX UE may transmit an S-SSB to the RX UE on a resource outside a DRX resource pool. Specifically, for example, the TX UE transmits the S-SSB to the RX UE on a resource adjacent to the DRX resource pool in the time domain such that the RX UE can detect the S-SSB by monitoring a transmission channel during an ON duration. In this case, the RX UE may detect the S-SSB transmitted by the TX UE during the ON duration of the DRX cycle. For example, the RX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX.
For example, the UE operating in a power saving mode or the UE operating in DRX may perform an SL mode 2 operation (e.g., partial sensing operation or random selection operation) on resources in the DRX resource pool. On the other hand, the UE operating in a power saving mode or the UE operating in DRX may not perform an SL mode 2 operation (e.g., partial sensing operation or random selection operation) on resources outside the DRX resource pool.
For example, the TX UE may transmit important information by using a resource within the DRX resource pool. For example, important information may be important information that the RX UE should receive with very high reliability and/or very low time latency, such as a basic safety message (BSM) or a broadcast message. For example, if the TX UE transmits important information by using the resource within the DRX resource pool, the RX UE performing SL communication based on DRX can always perform channel monitoring for the DRX resource pool, and the probability of detection failure for the important information can be minimized.
For example, the TX UE may transmit unicast-related information or groupcast-related information by using a resource within an SL resource pool that does not overlap with the DRX resource pool.
For example, the WUS may inform the UE of a time when the UE performing SL communication based on DRX should wake up from a sleep mode and monitor a transmission channel. In this case, the TX UE may transmit an S-SSB at a later time than the WUS. For example, the TX UE may transmit the S-SSB at a time after a time offset/interval from a time when the WUS is transmitted. For example, the time offset/interval may be predefined for the UE. For example, the time offset/interval may be configured by a higher layer of the UE. For example, the time offset/interval may be configured or pre-configured for the UE. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to the time offset/interval to the UE.
For example, the WUS may signal whether an S-SSB is transmitted in the following time domain. For example, the TX UE may transmit the WUS indicating whether an S-SSB is transmitted.
For example, the TX UE may transmit an index for a specific DRX cycle among a plurality of DRX cycles to the RX UE. For example, if the RX UE receives the index for the specific DRX cycle, the RX UE may prepare a power saving operation. For example, the plurality of DRX cycles may be predefined for the UE. For example, the plurality of DRX cycles may be configured by a higher layer of the UE. For example, the plurality of DRX cycles may be configured or pre-configured for the UE. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to the plurality of DRX cycles to the UE. For example, the RX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX.
For example, the base station/network may transmit an index for a specific DRX cycle among a plurality of DRX cycles to the RX UE.
For example, a period of a DRX cycle used for SL communication may be configured as an integer multiple of a TDD-UL-DL-Configuration period configured/defined by the base station/network in Uu link. In this case, for example, the RX UE may (autonomously) select/configure/determine the period of the DRX cycle as the integer multiple of the TDD-UL-DL-Configuration period configured/defined by the network. For example, the integer multiple may be predefined for the UE. For example, the integer multiple may be configured by a higher layer of the UE. For example, the integer multiple may be configured or pre-configured for the UE. For example, the base station/network may transmit information related to the integer multiple to the UE. For example, the RX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX.
For example, if a plurality of SL resource pools are configured for the UE, the TX UE or the RX UE may inform another UE of which SL resource pool the DRX cycle used by the TX UE or the RX UE belongs to. To this end, the TX UE or the RX UE may transmit SCI including information (e.g., resource pool index) related to a resource pool to which a specific DRX cycle is applied to another UE. For example, the RX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX. For example, the TX UE may be a UE that performs SL communication based on DRX.
In step S1520, the TX UE and the RX UE may perform SL communication based on the DRX resource pool.
In the present disclosure, proposed are a method for configuring a DRX resource pool and always monitoring resources in the DRX resource pool or applying a DRX cycle, and device(s) supporting the same, in order for the DRX operation UE to receive data with a minimum reception failure probability. In addition, proposed are a method for exchanging information related to a period of a DRX cycle and information related to a resource pool to which the DRX cycle is applied between UEs, and device(s) supporting the same.

For example, a size of the group may be determined based on the SL DRX configuration. For example, a number of devices within the group may not be allowed to exceed the size of the group related to the SL DRX configuration.

For example, a device within the group may be allowed to use at least one sub-active time among the N sub-active times based on an ID of the device. In addition, the processor 202 of the second device 200 may control the transceiver 206 to perform, based on the SL DRX configuration, groupcast communication with the first device. For example, the SL DRX configuration may be selected by the first device for the groupcast communication from among at least one SL DRX configuration, and the SL DRX configuration may include information related to a DRX cycle and information related to an active time.
Based on an embodiment of the present disclosure, a second device adapted to perform wireless communication may be provided.
