Claims
- 1. A method of performing trans myocardial revascularization, comprising: forming trans myocardial channels by cryoablating selected portions of the myocardial tissue.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said cryoablating is performed by using a cryosurgery device having an operating tip featuring a shape of a needle.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the diameter of said operating tip is between about 0.8 mm and about 1.6 mm.
- 4. The method of claim 2, wherein said cryosurgery device includes a Joule Thomson heat exchanger.
- 5. A method of performing trans myocardial revascularization, comprising:
- (a) providing a high pressure gas to a primary portion of an elongated operating device and creating a primary cryogenic pool at the operating tip of said device; and
- (b) inserting said operating tip through a patient's myocardium so as to cryoablate selected portions of the myocardium.
- 6. The method of claim 5, further comprising: providing a high pressure gas to a secondary portion of said operating device and creating a secondary cryogenic pool at said secondary portion so as to precool said high pressure gas provided to said primary portion of said device.
- 7. The method of claim 5, wherein said operating tip is inserted through the epicardium into the myocardium of a patient.
- 8. The method of claim 5, wherein said operating device is substantially flexible and wherein said operating tip is inserted through an artery into a ventricular chamber of the patient so as to form channels extending from the ventricular chamber into the patient's myocardium.
- 9. The method of claim 8 wherein said operating tip is inserted into the ventricular chamber by means of a catheter.
- 10. The method of claim 5, further comprising: providing a second high pressure gas to said primary portion of said operating device for heating said operating tip so as to prevent sticking of said tip to the myocardial tissue.
- 11. The method of claim 6, further comprising: providing a second high pressure gas to said secondary portion of said operating device for heating said high pressure gas provided to said primary portion of said device so as to prevent sticking of said tip to the myocardial tissue.
- 12. The method of claim 8, further comprising: monitoring said revascularization by using thoracoscopy.
- 13. The method of claim 5, further comprising: introducing angiogenesis inducing factors into the myocardium.
- 14. The method of claim 13, wherein said angiogenesis inducing factors include a gene encoding for a growth factor.
