Claims
- 1. For injection directly into a spinal disc, an injectable comprising:
(a) a stock solution consisting by weight percentages, of:
chondroitin sulfate, between about 0.5% to about 2.0% glucosamine HCl, between about 5.0% to about 20.0%, and sterile water to make 100%; (b) buffer substances in quantity sufficient to bring the pH to between about 6.2 and 6.6; and (c) water to dilute said stock solution to a concentration tolerated by the disc, between about 3 parts by weight of water to about 1 part by weight of stock solution.
- 2. An injectable according to claim 1 in which said stock solution further includes dextrose solution (about 50% dextrose by weight of its own solution) in the ratio between about 1:1 to about 3:2 by weight (dextrose solution: stock solution before adding dextrose solution).
- 3. An injectable according to claim 1 in which said stock solution further includes DMSO, between about 0.5% to about 1.0% by weight of the stock solution.
- 4. An injectable according to claim 1 in which said stock solution further includes a liquid anaesthetic in a physiologically tolerable concentration.
- 5. An injectable according to claim 1 in which the concentration of chondroitin sulfate in the stock solution is about 1%, and the concentration of glucosamine HCl about 10%.
- 6. An injectable according to claim 5 in which said stock solution further includes DMSO, between about 0.5% to about 1.0% by weight of the stock solution.
- 7. An injectable according to claim 1 in which the concentrations in the stock solution are as follows:
chondroitin sulfate about 1.0% glucosamine HCl, about 10% DMSO about 1% dextrose solution/stock solution between about 1:1 to about 3:2 anaesthetic: about 2.% to about 4.0% buffer: phosphate buffer to about pH 6.5
- 8. The method of treating a traumatized spinal disc comprising injecting the injectable of claim 1 into said disc.
- 9. The method of treating a traumatized spinal disc comprising injecting the injectable of claim 7 into said disc.
