- 4. A method of computerized learning, response, and evaluation as defined in claim 1, further comprising the step of returning the user to the presented pages from which the improperly answered questions were generated.
- 5. A method of computerized learning, response, and evaluation as defined in claim 1 wherein at least a portion of the data arranged in page format can be presented hypersequentially to the user.
- 6. A method for using a computer system as a computerized learning, response, and evaluation system for arranging data relevant to a topic into a format which allows for presentation of that data and concomitant user initiated testing of portions of that data through questions which are created by said computer system from said data, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. an author obtaining a pool of data relevant to a topic, said data comprising a plurality of information resources comprising at least one of text, graphics, or sound;
- b. said author creating a lesson by arranging the data into a plurality of pages, each of said pages having at least one of said information resources thereon, at least a portion of said pages being adapted for presentation to a student so that the information resources contained thereon are presented to said student, the information resources of said pages being further adapted for use by said computer system to create questions;
- c. said computer system creating questions from the information resources of said plurality of pages by performing at least the steps of:
- i. selecting a question set that specifies at least a portion of said pages that will be used by said computer system to create at least part of at least one question that will be presented to said student;
- ii. said computer system creating a question matrix based on the selected question set, said question matrix identifying the information resources of the pages selected by said question set, said question matrix organizing the information resources of said selected pages in order to identify all possible question part and right answer part pairs that are in said question set;
- iii. said computer system selecting a question part and right answer part pair from said question matrix;
- iv. said computer system assembling said selected question part and right answer part pair into a question and presenting said question to said student.
- 7. A computerized learning, response, and evaluation system for arranging data relevant to a topic in a format which allows for presentation of that data to a user of said computerized learning, response, and evaluation system, and concomitant user-initiated testing of portions of that data through questions which are randomly generated, the system comprising:
- a. means for arranging a plurality of information resources comprising at least one of text, graphics, or sound, into a page format so that some of the information resources are available to said computerized learning, response, and evaluation system and can also be accessed or viewed by said user and some of the information resources are available to said computerized learning, response, and evaluation system but cannot be accessed or viewed by said user;
- b. means for randomly generating questions derived from both the information resources that can be accessed or viewed by the user and the information resources that cannot be accessed or viewed by the user, said means for randomly generating questions drawing a question part, a right answer part, and a wrong answer part from said plurality of information resources so that the right answer part is the correct answer to the question part and the wrong answer part is not the correct answer to the question part so that questions are created by said computerized learning, response and evaluation system from said plurality of information resources and not authored by a human;
- c. means for presenting a preselected number of the generated questions to the user; and
- d. means for evaluating the performance of the user based on the user's answers to the presented questions.
- 8. A computerized learning, response, and evaluation system as recited in claim 7 wherein at least a portion of the data arranged in page format can be presented sequentially to the user.
- 9. A computerized learning, response, and evaluation system as recited in claim 7 wherein at least a portion of the data arranged in page format can be presented hypersequentially to the user.
- 10. A method of using a computer system comprising a CPU, an input/output device connected to said CPU, and a memory connected to said CPU for holding program means, for computerized teaming, response, and evaluation for arranging data relevant to a topic into a format which allows for presentation of that data and concomitant user initiated testing of portions of that data through questions which are randomly generated, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. obtaining a pool of data relevant to a topic, said data comprising a plurality of information resources comprising at least one of text, graphics or sound;
- b. arranging the data into a lesson for viewing by a user of said computer system, said lesson comprising a plurality of pages containing information resources arranged thereon, said lesson comprising:
- i. at least one page that can be presented to a user of said computer system so the information resources arranged on said at least one page can be viewed by the user; and
- ii. at least one other page that is hidden from the user of said computer system so that the information resources arranged on said at least one other page cannot be viewed by said user even though said page is part of said lesson, but the information resources arranged on said at least one other page is available for use by said computer system during the viewing of said lesson by said user;
- c. said computer system generating questions on both the information resources arranged on said at least one page that is presented to the user and the information resources arranged on said at least one other page that is hidden from the user by performing the following steps:
- i. selecting a question part from among the information resources of said lesson;
- ii. selecting a right answer part from among the information resources of said lesson so that said right answer part is the correct answer to said question part;
- iii. selecting at least one wrong answer part from among the information resources of said lesson;
- iv. assembling the selected question part, right answer part, and at least one wrong answer part into a question for presentation to said user.
- 11. A method of computerized learning, response, and evaluation for arranging data relevant to a topic into a format which allows for presentation of that data and concomitant user initiated testing of portions of that data through questions which are randomly generated, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. obtaining a pool of data relevant to a topic, said data comprising a plurality of information resources comprising at least one of text, graphics or sound;
