Claims
- 1. A method for organizing images obtained from a plurality of discrete image retaining devices with respect to a customer account of a customer, comprising the steps of:
providing a plurality of discrete image retaining devices, each having a unique ID; obtaining the ID from each of said image retaining devices; providing a first group of said image retaining devices; forwarding the ID for each of said image retaining devices in said group to database of a network photoservice provider for storage prior to said network photoservice provider receiving said image retaining devices for association with said customer account for delivery of goods and/or services to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 further comprising the steps of:
registering said plurality of image retaining devices to a customer at said network photoservice provider; establishing a communication link between said customer and said database; and said customer entering the ID of one of said image retaining devices such that so that all of said image retaining devices are registered to said customer for delivery to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 3. A method according to claim 2 further comprises the steps of;
providing at least one image obtained from at least one of said image retaining devices to said network photoservice provider; and forwarding said at least one image to a fulfillment provider for fulfilling an associated customer order.
- 4. A system for organizing images obtained from a group of a plurality of discrete image retaining devices with respect to a customer account of a customer, each image retaining device having a unique ID, comprising:
a computer having database for storing digital images and a management section for managing customer orders and said stored digital images with respect to said customer account, said management section capable of receiving and storing said unique ID of said group of said plurality of image retaining devices and registering said group to said customer account, said computer associating a particular goods and/or services for delivery to a recipient designated by said customer to images obtained from said group of plurality of image retaining devices prior to receipt of said group of plurality of discreet image retaining devices required for fulfillment of said particular goods and/or services.
- 5. A system according to claim 4 wherein said group of said plurality of image retaining devices are provided in a single package.
- 6. A system according to claim 4 further comprising a scanner for obtaining said unique ID of said group of said plurality of image retaining devices.
- 7. A system according to claim 5 wherein a scanner obtains said unique ID from said plurality of image retaining devices when said image retaining devices are in said single package.
- 8. A system according to claim 4 wherein said goods and/or services are provided upon reaching a predetermined criteria.
- 9. A system according to claim 8 wherein said predetermined criteria comprises receiving images from a predetermined number of said at least one image retaining device.
- 10. A system according to claim 4 wherein said at least one image retaining device comprises a roll of photographic film.
- 11. A system according to claim 4 wherein said particular goods and/or service comprises providing a CD containing said images.
- 12. A system according to claim 4 wherein said particular goods and/or service comprises providing at least one album page containing said images.
- 13. A system according to claim 12 wherein said at least one album page includes a plurality of images on both sides of said album page.
- 14. A system according to claim 4 wherein said computer allows said customer to partition said group to at least two sub-groups and associating one or more goods and/or services to each sub-group.
- 15. A system according to claim 4 wherein registration of said customer results in said customer account automatically being set up on behalf of said customer.
- 16. A system according to claim 15 wherein said customer can allow another third party access to said account for sharing and/or exchanging of images.
- 17. A system according to claim 16 wherein said third party may order additional goods and/or services.
- 18. A method for organizing a plurality of images obtained from an image source, comprising the steps of:
providing a database for storing of digital images; providing a plurality of discrete image retaining devices in a package, each image retaining device having a unique ID; forwarding said unique ID of said plurality of image retaining devices to a database at a network photoservice provider for storage; allowing access to said database to a customer so as to allow registration of said plurality of image retaining devices to said customer prior to receipt of said plurality of image retaining devices by said photoservice provider.
- 19. A method according to claim 18 wherein registration of one of said retaining devices automatically registers the remaining image retaining devices in said package.
- 20. A method according to claim 18 further comprising the steps of:
partitioning said plurality of image retaining devices into at least two sub-groups, each sub-group having associated therewith a particular goods or service to be provided with respect to images obtained by said image retaining devices in said sub-group.
- 21. A method according to claim 18 wherein at least one goods and/or service is associated with said customer to be provided upon reaching a predetermined criteria.
- 22. A method according to claim 21 wherein said predetermined criteria comprises a predetermined time period.
- 23. A method according to claim 21 wherein said predetermined criteria is a predetermined number of images obtained from said image retaining devices.
- 24. A method according to claim 23 wherein image retaining device comprises a roll of photographic film.
- 25. A method according to claim 24 further comprising the step of automatically providing a subsequent roll of photographic film in response to photofinisher receiving said first roll of photographic film for development.
- 26. A method according to claim 18 further comprising the steps of allowing remote internet access to for allowing review of images obtained form said image retaining devices.
- 27. A method according to claim 26 further comprising the steps of providing computer software to said customer for allowing the customer to modify said at least one image prior to providing said goods or service.
- 28. A method for organizing images obtained from a plurality of discrete image retaining devices, each image retaining device have an unique ID, comprising the steps of:
obtaining the ID of a plurality of said image retaining devices and forwarding said ID to a database at network photoservice provider; accessing said database by a customer and registering at least one of said image retaining devices to said customer, and said customer associating the providing of a goods or service for delivery to a recipient designated by said customer with respect to images obtained from said at least one image retaining device prior to receipt of said at least one image retaining device required for the providing of said goods and/or services.
- 29. A method according to claim 28 wherein said goods or service is automatically provided upon reaching a predetermined criteria.
- 30. A method according to claim 29 wherein said predetermined criteria comprises a predetermined time period.
- 31. A method according to claim 29 wherein said predetermined criteria comprises a predetermined number of images.
- 32. A method according to claim 28 wherein said at least one image is obtained from scanning a first roll of photographic film.
- 33. A method according to claim 28 wherein said image retaining device comprises a roll of photographic film, further comprising the step of providing an unique ID with respect to said first roll of photographic film.
- 34. A method according to claim 32 further comprising the step of automatically providing a subsequent roll of photographic film in response to a photofinisher receiving said first roll of photographic film for development.
- 35. A method according to claim 28 further comprising the steps of allowing remote internet access to said at least one image obtained from said image retaining devices for review by said customer.
- 36. A method according to claim 35 further comprising the steps of providing computer software to said customer for allowing the customer to modify said at least one image prior to providing said goods or service.
- 37. A method for organizing a plurality of images obtained from an image source, comprising the steps of:
providing a database for storing of digital images; providing a plurality of discrete image retaining devices in a package, each image retaining device having an unique ID, said package having a unique package ID; forwarding said unique ID of said plurality of image retaining devices and said package ID to a database at a network photoservice provider for storage; allowing access to said database to a customer so as to allow registration of said package ID so that said plurality of image retaining devices are automatically registered to said customer prior to receipt of said discreet image retaining devices by said network photoservice provider for delivery of goods and/or services to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 38. A method according to claim 37 wherein at least one particular goods and/or services is associated with images obtained said plurality of image retaining devices provided in said package, further comprising the step of:
automatically providing said goods and/or services upon reaching a predetermined criteria.
- 39. A method according to claim 38 further comprising the step of;
allowing the customer to select and/or modify said at least one goods and/or services to be provided.
- 40. A method according to claim 38 wherein said predetermined criteria is a predetermined time period.
- 41. A method according to claim 38 wherein said predetermined criteria is a predetermined number of images.
- 42. A method according to claim 38 wherein said at least one image is obtained from scanning a first roll of photographic film.
- 43. A method for organizing a plurality of images obtained from a plurality strips of photographic film, each of said plurality of strips of film being provided in a discrete film cartridge, each of said plurality of strips photographic film having an unique ID recorded thereon, comprising the steps of:
providing a plurality of said film cartridges in a single package, said package having an unique package ID; forwarding said unique ID for said plurality of strips of photographic film and package ID to a database at network photoservice provider for storage; and allowing access to said database to a customer so as to allow registration of said package ID so that said plurality of strips of photographic film are automatically registered to said customer prior to receipt of said plurality of strips of photographic film by said network photoservice provider for delivery of goods and/or services to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 44. A method according to claim 43 wherein said package includes label that can be placed on said cartridge that can be used to identify said unique ID of said strip of film contained in said film cartridge.
- 45. A method according to claim 43 wherein said label includes a peelable security cover strip that once removed will reveal said unique ID.
- 46. A system for organizing a plurality of images obtained from a plurality strips of photographic film, each of said plurality of strips of film being provided in a discrete film cartridge, each of said plurality of strips photographic film having an unique ID recorded thereon, comprising:
a computer having database for storing digital images and a management section for managing customer orders and said stored digital images, said management section capable of receiving and storing said unique ID of said group of said plurality strips of photographic film and registering said plurality strips of photographic film to a customer account using said unique ID prior to receipt of said plurality of strips of photographic film required for fulfilling of said customer orders for delivery of goods and/or services to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 47. A system according to claim 46 wherein said computer associating a particular goods and/or services to images obtained from said group of plurality strips of photographic film.
- 48. A system according to claim 46 further comprising a film scanner for obtaining said unique ID.
- 49. A system according to claim 48 further comprising a communication device for forwarding said unique ID to said computer.
- 50. A system according to claim 46 wherein said computer forwards said stored digital images of said customer to a fulfillment center for providing of said particular goods and/or services upon reaching of a predetermined criteria.
- 51. A system according to claim 50 wherein said predetermined criteria comprises receiving images from a predetermined number of said at least one image retaining device.
- 52. A system according to claim 47 wherein said particular goods and/or service comprises providing a CD containing said images.
- 53. A system according to claim 47 wherein said particular goods and/or service comprises providing at least one album page containing said images.
- 54. A system according to claim 53 wherein said at least one album page includes a plurality of images on both sides of said album page.
- 55. A method for organizing images obtained from at least one image retaining device, comprising the steps of:
providing at least one image retaining devices having a unique ID; obtaining the ID from each of said at least one image retaining device; and forwarding the ID for said at least one image retaining device to a network photoservice provider for association with a customer account prior to receipt of said at least one image retaining device for delivery of goods and/or services to a recipient designated by said customer.
- 56. A method according to claim 55 wherein a manufacturer of said at least one image retaining device forwards said ID to said network photoservice provider.
- 57. A method according to claim 55 wherein a retailer of said at least one image retaining device forwards said ID to said network photoservice provider.
- 58. A method according to claim 55 wherein a customer is registered with respect to said at least one image retaining device.
- 59. A method according to claim 58 wherein said at least one image retaining device is automatically registered at a retail establishment.
- 60. A method according to claim 59 wherein said registration is accomplished by scanning a registration card associated with said customer.
