Claims
- 1. A system for allocating resources within a build to order manufacturing environment comprising:
a control center operably coupled to one or more databases having associated work in process (WIP) profile information for selective portions of a manufacturing facility; and a simulator communicatively coupled to the control center and operable to simulate allocation of resources based on real-time acquisition of information associated with the WIP information.
- 2. The system of claim 1 wherein the system further comprises:
a monitor operable to identify errors within the manufacturing facility; and the simulator operable to simulate an allocation based on the identified error.
- 3. The system of claim 1 further comprising the simulator operable to determine a minimal impact on production based on the reallocation of resources.
- 4. The system of claim 1 further comprising the simulator operable to determine allocation of resources based on the WIP profile information and available capacity within a selective portion of the manufacturing facility.
- 5. The system of claim 1 further comprising the simulator operable to determine allocation of resources based on an order release criteria for orders and associated systems for filling the orders.
- 6. The system of claim 2 wherein the error comprises an equipment error associated within one of the selected portion of the manufacturing facility.
- 7. The system of claim 2 wherein the error comprises a process error for a process employed within the manufacturing facility.
- 8. A method for simulating allocation of resources within a build to order manufacturing environment comprising;
determining available resources within selective portions of a manufacturing facility, the resources operable to be used for producing computer systems; and allocating the resources using a simulator to determine efficient utilization of the resources while minimizing impact of allocating such resources to produce the computer systems.
- 9. The method of claim 8 further comprising;
accessing one or more WIP profiles associated with selective portions within the manufacturing facility; and determining efficient allocation of resources associated with the WIP profiles.
- 10. The method of claim 9 further comprising repeating the allocation of resources until optimized.
- 11. The method of claim 8 further comprising:
detecting an error within the manufacturing facility; and employing the simulator based on the error to determine allocation of resources.
- 12. The method of claim 8 further comprising:
accessing an order release criteria associated with one or more orders; and simulating allocating resources based on the order release criteria.
- 13. The method of claim 8 further comprising:
determining the simulated allocation of resources; and employing the simulated allocation of resources via a control center communicatively coupled to the manufacturing facility.
- 14. A medium including encoded logic for simulating allocation of resources within a build to order manufacturing environment comprising the logic operable to:
determine available resources within selective portions of a manufacturing facility, the resources operable to be used for producing computer systems; and allocate the resources using a simulator to determine efficient utilization of the resources while minimizing impact of allocating such resources to produce the computer systems.
- 15. The medium of claim 14 further comprising logic operable to:
access one or more WIP profiles associated with selective portions within the manufacturing facility; and determine efficient allocation of resources associated with the WIP profiles.
- 16. The medium of claim 15 further comprising logic operable to repeat the allocation of resources until optimized.
- 17. The method of claim 14 further comprising the logic operable to:
detect an error within the manufacturing facility; and employ the simulator based on the error to determine optimum allocation of resources.
- 18. The medium of claim 14 further comprising logic operable to:
access an order release criteria associated with one or more orders; and simulate allocating resources based on the order release criteria.
- 19. The medium of claim 14 further comprising logic operable to:
determine the simulated allocation of resources; and employ the simulated allocation of resources via a control center communicatively coupled to the manufacturing facility.
