Claims
- 1. A method for modifying the hydraulic circuitry of a factory installed TFOD-DSL automotive transmission including a regulator valve, a regulator spring acting on said regulator valve, a throttle valve, a kickdown valve, and a throttle valve spring disposed between said throttle valve and said kickdown valve, the steps of said method including:adjusting the size of one of said throttle valve and said kickdown valve of said factory installed automotive transmission to prevent direct engagement of said kickdown valve and said throttle valve over the entire operating range of said automotive transmission.
- 2. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said step of adjusting includes the step of reducing the length of said throttle valve of said factory installed transmission.
- 3. The method as claimed in claim 1 including the step of replacing said regulator spring of said factory installed transmission with a regulator spring having a spring characteristic sufficient to increase maximum throttle and maximum line pressure to above 95 psi.
- 4. The method as claimed in claim 3 wherein the step of replacing said regulator spring includes replacing said regulator spring of said factory installed transmission with a regulator spring having a spring characteristic sufficient to increase maximum throttle and maximum line pressure to at least 120 pounds per square inch.
- 5. A method for modifying the hydraulic circuitry of a factory installed TFOD-DSL automotive transmission including a regulator valve, a regulator spring acting on said regulator valve, a throttle valve, a kickdown valve, and a throttle valve spring disposed between said throttle valve and said kickdown valve, the steps of said method including:replacing said regulator spring of said factory installed transmission with a regulator spring having a spring characteristic sufficient to increase maximum throttle and maximum line pressure to above 95 psi.
- 6. The method as claimed in claim 5 wherein the step of replacing said regulator spring includes replacing said regulator spring of said factory installed transmission with a regulator spring having a spring characteristic sufficient to increase maximum throttle and maximum line pressure to at least 120 pounds per square inch.
- 7. The method as claimed in claim 5 including the step of adjusting the size of one of said throttle valve and said kickdown valve of said factory installed automotive transmission to prevent direct engagement of said kickdown valve and said throttle valve over the entire operating range of said automotive transmission.
- 8. The method as claimed in claim 7 wherein said step of adjusting includes the step of reducing the length of said throttle valve of said factory installed transmission.
