a reader for reading information stored in a cartridge memory incorporated in said cartridge; a determiner, operated in response to powering of an apparatus main unit, for judging whether said cartridge is acceptable according to said information; a writer for renewing apparatus operating information according to a used amount of said expendable material if said determiner determines that said cartridge is acceptable, said apparatus operating information being included in said information, and adapted for being used in estimation of a remaining amount of said expendable material by said determiner; an alarm signal generator for generating an alarm signal if said determiner determines that said cartridge is unacceptable.
- 2. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein said information further includes cartridge discernment information of said cartridge, and said determiner discerns said cartridge according to said cartridge discernment information.
- 3. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein shortage information of shortage of said expendable material after being used up in said cartridge is further writable to said cartridge memory, and if said reader has read said shortage information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
- 4. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 1, wherein removal information of a removed state of said cartridge removed from said apparatus main unit is further writable to said cartridge memory, and if said reader has read said removal information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
- 5. An image forming apparatus for being loaded with a cartridge in an exchangeable manner, said cartridge containing expendable material, said image forming apparatus comprising:
a memory incorporated in an apparatus main unit; a reader for reading information stored in said memory; a determiner, operated in response to powering of said apparatus main unit, for judging whether said cartridge is acceptable according to said information; a writer for renewing apparatus operating information according to a used amount of said expendable material if said determiner determines that said cartridge is acceptable, said apparatus operating information being included in said information, and adapted for being used in estimation of a remaining amount of said expendable material by said determiner; an alarm signal generator for generating an alarm signal if said determiner determines that said cartridge is unacceptable.
- 6. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 5, wherein said information further includes cartridge discernment information of said cartridge, and said determiner discerns said cartridge according to said cartridge discernment information.
- 7. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 5, wherein shortage information of shortage of said expendable material after being used up in said cartridge is further writable to said memory, and if said reader has read said shortage information, then said determiner determines said cartridge being unacceptable.
- 8. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 5, wherein removal information of a removed state of said cartridge removed from said apparatus main unit is further writable to said memory, and if said reader has read said removal information, then said determiner determines said cartridge being unacceptable.
- 9. An image forming apparatus for being loaded with a cartridge in an exchangeable manner, said cartridge containing expendable material, said image forming apparatus comprising:
a reader for reading information stored in a cartridge memory incorporated in said cartridge; a determiner, operated in response to loading of an apparatus main unit with said cartridge, for judging whether said cartridge is acceptable according to said information; a writer for renewing apparatus operating information according to a used amount of said expendable material if said determiner determines that said cartridge is acceptable, said apparatus operating information being included in said information, and adapted for being used in estimation of a remaining amount of said expendable material by said determiner; an alarm signal generator for generating an alarm signal if said determiner determines that said cartridge is unacceptable.
- 10. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 9, wherein said information further includes cartridge discernment information of said cartridge, and said determiner discerns said cartridge according to said cartridge discernment information.
- 11. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 9, wherein shortage information of shortage of said expendable material after being used up in said cartridge is further writable to said cartridge memory, and if said reader has read said shortage information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
- 12. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 9, wherein removal information of a removed state of said cartridge removed from said apparatus main unit is further writable to said cartridge memory, and if said reader has read said removal information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
- 13. An image forming apparatus for being loaded with a cartridge in an exchangeable manner, said cartridge containing expendable material, said image forming apparatus comprising:
a memory incorporated in an apparatus main unit; a reader for reading information stored in said memory; a determiner, operated in response to loading of said apparatus main unit with said cartridge, for judging whether said cartridge is acceptable according to said information; a writer for renewing apparatus operating information according to a used amount of said expendable material if said determiner determines that said cartridge is acceptable, said apparatus operating information being included in said information, and adapted for being used in estimation of a remaining amount of said expendable material by said determiner; an alarm signal generator for generating an alarm signal if said determiner determines that said cartridge is unacceptable.
- 14. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 13, wherein said information further includes cartridge discernment information of said cartridge, and said determiner discerns said cartridge according to said cartridge discernment information.
- 15. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 13, wherein shortage information of shortage of said expendable material after being used up in said cartridge is further writable to said memory, and if said reader has read said shortage information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
- 16. An image forming apparatus as defined in claim 13, wherein removal information of a removed state of said cartridge removed from said apparatus main unit is further writable to said memory, and if said reader has read said removal information, then said determiner determines said cartridge as being unacceptable.
