Claims
- 1. A method for alleviating angiotensin related hypertension in hypertensive mammals which comprises administering to said mammals an effective dose of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor having the formula ##STR12## or salt thereof, wherein R.sub.1 is amino-lower alkylene, mercapto-lower alkylene, lower alkylmercapto-lower alkylene or carboxy-lower alkylene;
- R.sub.2, r.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each is hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkylene; R.sub.5 is hydrogen, lower alkanoyl, benzoyl or ##STR13## n is 0, 1 or 2.
- 2. A method as in claim 1 wherein the compound has the L-configuration with respect to the carbon bearing R.sub.1.
- 3. A method as in claim 2 wherein the dosage is about 10 to 500 mg. per kilogram per day.
- 4. A method as in claim 1 wherein in the formula the group ##STR14## is derived from an amino acid of the group consisting of lysine, cysteine, methionine and aspartic acid.
- 5. A method as in claim 1 wherein in the formula R.sub.1 is aminobutyl, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 each is hydrogen and n is 1.
- 6. A method as in claim 1 wherein in the formula R.sub.1 is mercaptomethyl, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 each is hydrogen and n is 1.
- 7. A method as in claim 1 wherein in the formula R.sub.1 is 2-methylthioethyl, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 each is hydrogen and n is 1.
