Claims
- 1. A method for maintaining the condition of cutting fluids containing some undesirable fluid constituents in a machine tool sump comprising the steps of:
- circulating fluids from the machine tool sump to an auxiliary tank;
- aerating the fluids by dispersion of the circulating fluids within the auxiliary tank, where said aerating step comprises impinging the circulating fluids against elements of a turbine wheel; and
- powering a separation step by rotation of the turbine wheel;
- agitating the fluids to promote fluid circulation within the auxiliary tank;
- maintaining the level of fluids in the auxiliary tank;
- separating undesirable fluid constituents in a waste container; and
- circulating the cutting fluids from the auxiliary tank back to the machine tool sump.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the cutting fluids for circulation back to the auxiliary are drawn from a tank level significantly lower than the fluid level in the auxiliary tank.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the level is maintained by a float switch.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the steps of aerating and agitating are accomplished by said turbine wheel which is mounted to be partially submerged in the fluids and driven to rotate at a rate sufficient to aerate and agitate the fluids.
