Claims
- 1. An aqueous dispersion that contains a calibration or control substance for a dry analysis element,
- wherein said aqueous dispersion comprises water and water-insoluble liquid particles having a mean particle size of from about 0.01 to 10 micrometers formed from a water insoluble liquid selected from the group consisting of water insoluble liquid phthalates, water insoluble liquid trimellitates, water insoluble liquid phosphoric esters, water insoluble liquid benzoates, N,N-diethyllaurylamide, N-tetradecylpyrrolidone, 2,4-di-t-amylphenol, water insoluble liquid aliphatic esters, water insoluble liquid paraffins, water insoluble liquid chloroparaffins, water insoluble liquid adipates, water insoluble liquid sebacates, and sodium alginate, and
- wherein said calibration or control substance is selected from the group consisting of a component of organic body fluids, red dyes, triolein, glycerine, (NH.sub.4).sub.2 SO.sub.4, NH.sub.4 Cl, CaCl.sub.2, Ca(NO.sub.3).sub.2, MgCl.sub.2, NaCl, KCl, K.sub.2 HPO.sub.4, and NANO.sub.3, and further wherein said calibration or control substance reacts with a color-producing reagent of the dry analysis element to give a color, thereby calibrating or providing a control for the dry analysis element.
- 2. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said water-insoluble liquid particles are present in a concentration on about 1 to 50% by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous dispersion.
- 3. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said water-insoluble liquid particles are present in a concentration of about 10 to 50% by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous dispersion.
- 4. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said water-insoluble liquid particles have a mean particle size of from 0.05 to 6 .mu.m.
- 5. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said water-insoluble liquid particles have a mean particle size of from 0.2 to 2 .mu.m.
- 6. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said phthalate is a compound selected from the group consisting of dibutylphthalate, cyclohexylphthalate, di-2-ethylhexylphthalate, and decylphthalate.
- 7. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said phosphoric ester is a compound selected from the group consisting of triphenylphosphate, tricresylphosphate, 2-ethylhexyldiphenylphosphate, tricyclohexylphosphate and tri-2-ethylhexylphosphate.
- 8. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said benzoate is 2-ethylhexylbenzoate.
- 9. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said aliphatic ester is trioctylcitrate.
- 10. The aqueous dispersion or claimed in claim 1 wherein said component of organic body fluids is selected from the group consisting of glucose, urea, uric acid, creatinine, bilirubin, hemoglobin, triolein, glycerine, cholesterol, triglyceride, NH.sub.4.sup.+, Ca.sup.2+, Mg.sup.2 +, HPO.sub.4.sup.2-, SO.sub.4.sup.2- and NO.sub.3.sup.-.
- 11. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said phthalate is a compound selected from the group consisting of dibutylphthalate, cyclohexylphthalate, di-2-ethylhexylphthalate, and decylphthalate; said phosphoric ester is a compound selected from the group consisting of triphenylphosphate, tricrecylphosphate, 2-ethylhexyldiphenylphosphate, tricyclohexylphosphate, and tri-2-ethylhexylphosphate; said benzoate is 2-ethylyhexylbenzoate; and said aliphatic ester is trioctylcitrate.
- 12. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein said organic body fluid is whole blood.
- 13. An aqueous dispersion that contains a calibration or control substance for a dry analysis element,
- wherein said aqueous dispersion comprises water and water-insoluble solid particles that comprise a homopolymer or copolymer and that have a mean size of from about 0.01 to 2 micrometers, and
- wherein said calibration or control substance is selected from the group consisting of a component of organic body fluids, red dyes, triolein, glycerine, (NH.sub.4).sub.2 SO.sub.4, NH.sub.4 Cl, CaCl.sub.2, Ca(NO.sub.3).sub.2, MgCl.sub.2, NaCl, KCl, K.sub.2 HPO.sub.4, and NaNO.sub.3, and further wherein said calibration or control substance reacts with a color-producing reagent of the dry analysis element to give a color, thereby calibrating or providing a control for the dry analysis element.
- 14. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13, wherein said water-insoluble solid particles are present in a concentration of about 1 to 50% by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous dispersion.
- 15. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 14, wherein said water-insoluble liquid particles are present in a concentration of about 10 to 50% by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous dispersion.
- 16. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13, wherein said water-insoluble solid particles comprise a homopolymer or copolymer derived from a monomer selected from the group consisting of styrene, an acrylate, vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride.
- 17. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 16, wherein said copolymer is derived from said monomer and a comonomer selected from the group consisting of butadiene, vinyl chloride, acrylamide, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid.
- 18. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13, wherein said homopolymer and copolymer have a molecular weight of from 10.sup.5 to 10.sup.6.
- 19. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13, wherein said water-insoluble solid particles have a mean particle size of from 0.2 to 2 .mu.m.
- 20. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13 wherein said component of organic body fluids is selected from the group consisting of glucose, urea, uric acid, creatinine, bilirubin, hemoglobin, triolein, glycerine, cholesterol, triglyceride, NH.sub.4.sup.+, Ca.sup.2+, Mg.sup.2+ HPO.sub.4.sup.2-, SO.sub.4.sup.2- and NO.sub.3.sup.-.
- 21. The aqueous dispersion as claimed in claim 13, wherein said organic body fluid is whole blood.
