Claims
- 1. A method for conditioning air within one or more zones, comprising the steps of:sensing a first temperature representative of the temperature of the air to the one or more zones; operating a conditioning unit having a heating stage, a cooling stage, a fan, and an economizer in a conditioning unit mode by activating at least one of the heating stage, the cooling stage, and the economizer to supply conditioned air to the one or more zones when the first temperature is outside of a first predetermined temperature range; operating the condition unit in a ventilation mode to supply ventilation air to the one or more zones when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range; sensing a second temperature representative of the temperature of the air supplied to the one or more zones from the conditioning unit; and activating at least one of the heating stage, the cooling stage, and the economizer when the conditioning unit is operating in the ventilation mode and the second temperature is outside of a second predetermined temperature range.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of programming an upper setpoint and a lower setpoint for the first predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the conditioning unit.
- 3. The method of claim 2, further comprising the step of programming an upper setpoint and a lower setpoint for the second predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the conditioning unit.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein the conditioning unit includes a plurality of heating stages and at least one of the heating stages is activated when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range and the second temperature is below the lower setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 5. The method of claim 3, further comprising the steps of:sensing the temperature of outdoor air; and modulating the economizer to increase the amount of outdoor air supplied to the conditioning unit when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range, the second temperature is above the upper setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range, and the temperature of the outdoor air is below the upper setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the step of modulating the economizer is repeated until the second temperature is between the upper and lower setpoints of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 7. The method of claim 3, wherein the conditioning unit includes a plurality of cooling stages and at least one of the cooling stages is activated when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range and the second temperature is above the upper setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 8. The method of claim 3, further comprising the steps of:sensing the temperature of the outdoor air; and modulating the economizer to increase the amount of outdoor air supplied to the conditioning unit when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range, the second temperature is below the lower setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range, and the temperature of the outdoor air is above the lower setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the step of modulating the economizer is repeated until the second temperature is between the upper and lower setpoints of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 10. A method for conditioning air within one or more zones, comprising the steps of:operating a conditioning unit having a heating stage, a fan, and an economizer to provide supply air to the one or more zones, sensing a first temperature representative of the temperature of the air in the one or more zones; sensing a second temperature representative of the temperature of the supply air supplied to the one or more zones from the conditioning unit; sensing a third temperature representative of the temperature of the outside air; activating at least one of the heating stage and the economizer when the first temperature is outside of a first predetermined temperature range; and modulating the economizer to increase the amount of outdoor air supplied to the conditioning unit when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range, the second temperature is above an upper setpoint of a second predetermined temperature range, and the third temperature is below the upper setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 11. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of programming an upper setpoint and a lower setpoint for the first predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the control unit.
- 12. The method of claim 11, further comprising the step of programming the upper setpoint and a lower setpoint for the second predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the control unit.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the conditioning unit includes a plurality of heating stages and at least one of the heating stages is activated when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range and the second temperature is below the lower setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 14. The system of claim 10, wherein the step of modulating the economizer is repeated until the second temperature is between the upper and lower setpoints.
- 15. A method for conditioning air within one or more zones, comprising the steps of:operating a conditioning unit having a cooling stage, a fan, and an economizer to provide supply air to the one or more zones, sensing a first temperature representative of the temperature of the air in the one or more zones; sensing a second temperature representative of the temperature of the supply air supplied to the one or more zones from the conditioning unit; sensing a third temperature representative of the temperature of the outdoor air; activating at least one of the cooling stage and the economizer when the first temperature is outside of a first predetermined temperature range; and modulating the economizer to increase the amount of outdoor air supplied to the conditioning unit when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range, the second temperature is below a lower setpoint of a second predetermined temperature range, and the third temperature is above the lower setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
- 16. The method of claim 15, further comprising the step of programming an upper setpoint and a lower setpoint for the first predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the control unit.
- 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the step of modulating the economizer is repeated until the second temperature is between the upper and lower setpoints.
- 18. The method of claim 16, further comprising the step of programming an upper setpoint and the lower setpoint for the second predetermined temperature range into a thermostat connected to the control unit.
- 19. The method of claim 18, wherein the conditioning unit includes a plurality of cooling stages and at least one of the cooling stages is activated when the first temperature is within the first predetermined temperature range and the second temperature is above the upper setpoint of the second predetermined temperature range.
