Claims
- 1. A method of correcting an address comprising obtaining an 11 digit Delivery Point Bar Code, validating the address against a Delivery Point Validation Table to obtain the specific delivery point Key ID code and posting the changes against the specific Key ID code.
- 2. A method for updating an address list comprising:
receiving a current delivery point file; comparing information on the current delivery point file with information from an older delivery point file; creating an updated address list with information from the comparison of delivery point files.
- 3. The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of removing ambiguities from address information.
- 4. The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of adding artificial address information.
- 5. The method of claim 2 further comprising publishing updated address information to a customer.
- 6. A method for creating an updated list of information for physical mailing addresses comprising the steps of:
receiving a current delivery point file with updated address information; comparing information on the current delivery point file with information from an older delivery point file; generating translation records from the comparison of the current and older delivery point files; resolving ambiguities in translation records; adding fictional address information; and publishing the updated address information to a customer.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein the current delivery point file includes changes to addresses for renamed streets.
- 8. The method of claim 6 wherein the current delivery point file includes changes to addresses for renumbered streets.
- 9. The method of claim 6 wherein a delivery point bar code comprises a unique mailing delivery point.
- 10. The method of claim 6 wherein the address information published to a customer may be processed by the customer using a ZIP+4 engine.
- 11. A method for a mailer to update address information on a mailing list comprising:
receiving a list of IZ4 delivery point bar codes; comparing the delivery point bar codes with existing information in order to determine whether there are conflicting 11 digits; determining whether there is a change in a temporary translation record; and updating with new information where there is a change.
- 12. The method of claim 11 further comprising receiving a list of IZ4 delivery point bar codes from the Postal Service.
- 13. The method of claim 11 further comprising deleting addresses with ambiguous 11 digit delivery point bar codes.
- 14. The method of claim 11 further comprising retaining those addresses where there is no change in address information received from the delivery point bar codes.
