Abstract
Method for separating straps and wrappings of fiber bales. A special diagonal cutting guide on the sides of the bale is proposed.
Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority to German Patent Application No. 10 2023 003 453.3 filed Aug. 23, 2023, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention

The invention relates to automatic removal of wrappings from textile fiber bales.

Description of Related Art

The market introduction of the automatic bale strap opener “Hergeth OPTiCRAC” DE3540191 has initiated some proposals for the automatic removal of wrappings from textile fiber bales. For example DE 4038688.

Recently, in order to be contaminated less during transport, the bales have been fully packaged in a wrapping, which is not separated. In known methods, this makes it necessary to free the bales from the wrapping.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention includes a method in which a special cutting method and arrangement of the bale facilitates removal of the wrapping. In order to understand the method, it is necessary to define the sides and the structure of a bale.

The invention also includes a wrapper for a fiber bale. The wrapper has a diagonal cutting guide. When the wrapper is on the bale, the diagonal cutting guide appears on at least two sides of the bale.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a fiber bale with dimensional notations thereon;

FIG. 2 shows a bale, with a black arrow indicating a pressing direction;

FIG. 3 shows a bale with upper and lower parts of a wrapping; and

FIG. 4 shows a diagonal cutting guide on a bale, according to the invention.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The market introduction of the automatic bale strap opener “Hergeth OPTiCRAC” DE3540191 has initiated some proposals for the automatic removal of wrappings from textile fiber bales. For example DE 4038688. DE 3540191 and DE 4038688 are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety.

The invention will be further explained with the aid of the drawings in an example.

FIG. 1 serves to define the sides of a bale. The black arrow indicates the way in which the stamp of the press has acted on the bale during its formation.

    • SS=Side edge
      • Depth of the bale
    • WS=Height of the bale
    • B=Width of the bale

The height of the bale and the depth form the small side surfaces of the bale.

The width and height form the large side surface of the bale.

The black arrow meets the top (bottom) of the bale.

FIG. 2 shows a bale. The black arrow (PD) indicates the pressing direction during the formation of the bale.

(W/B) denotes the wires or bands (straps) which keep the bale compressed.

(C) denotes the separation points for the strap.

FIG. 3 shows further details.

(LW) marks the lower part of the wrapping and (UW) marks the upper part of the wrapping. (DC) represents the optimum region of the cutting guide on the 3 sides. The smaller arrows show the directions in which the upper wrapping is removed.

FIG. 4 shows regions in which the diagonal cutting guide is located on the side surfaces. A distance of at least 30 mm is necessary for the horizontal cut from the lower surface of the bale, since the bale is curved underneath.

The straps are most easily separated with an opening unit known from DE 3605215, which patent is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. A blade, which separates the wrapping horizontally after the straps have been separated, may be arranged on the carriage of this opening unit.

The lateral wrapping surfaces are separated by different cutting devices. These devices are moved against the bale, and for example a cylinder without a piston rod guides a blade for the diagonal cutting along the bale side. If the wrapping consists of a continuous fabric, the wrapping is preferably not further separated. The strap and the wrapping are separated together from the bale contents and are optionally separated only a further processing stage.

For the rest of the procedure most expediently the horizontal cut is to be carried out in the vicinity of the upper or lower side of the bale, on which the bale is placed.

Claims
  • 1) A method for cutting open the wrapping of a bale placed (vertically) in the pressing direction, wherein at least one cut is made parallel to the connecting line of the separation points of the strap and at least one cut is respectively made diagonally on the wrapping of the side surfaces and in each case meets the start or end point of the horizontal cut.
  • 2) The method according to claim 1, wherein straps and wrapping are fed together to a second processing station without further separation.
  • 3) A wrapper for a fiber bale, comprising a diagonal cutting guide, wherein when the wrapper is on the bale, the diagonal cutting guide appears on at least two sides of the bale.
