Claims
- 1. A method for desensitizing an offset printing plate which comprises applying an aqueous desensitizing composition consisting essentially of at least one complex to a non-image area of the offset printing plate having an oleophilic image formed thereon in an amount effective to desensitive said non-image area, said complex being selected from the group consisting of compounds having the formula I, [M(X.sub.1).sub.a ](Y).sub.b.cH.sub.2 O, wherein M is selected from the group consisting of Ir, Co, Ti, Fe, Cu, Ni, Pt, Mn, Ru, Rh, Hf, V, Be and Pd, X.sub.1 is NH.sub.3, OH.sub.2, H.sub.2 N(CH.sub.2).sub.2 NH.sub.2, C.sub.2 O.sub.4, NO, NO.sub.2, OCHO, NH.sub.2, HONC(CH.sub.3)C, (CH.sub.3)NO, ##STR5## OCN.sub.2 H.sub.4 or OC(NH.sub.2).sub.2, Y is an anion, "a" is a number in the range of from 2 to 6, "b" is a number in the range of from 1 to 3 and "c" is 0 or a number in the range of from 1 to 10, compounds having the formula II, [M(X.sub.1).sub.a, (X.sub.2).sub.a" ](Y).sub.b.cH.sub.2 O, wherein M, X.sub.1, Y, "b" and "c" are respectively the same as in formula I, X.sub.2 is OH, OH.sub.2, NO.sub.2, CO.sub.3, NH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COO, HONC(CH.sub.3)C(CH.sub.3)NO, Br, Cl, H.sub.2 N(CH.sub.2).sub.2 NH.sub.2, N, ONO.sub.2, ONO, NCS, H.sub.2 O, ##STR6## F or I, and "a'" and "a"" are respectively a number in the range of from 1 to 5, compounds having the formula III, (M.sub.1).sub.p [(M.sub.2)(X.sub.3).sub.q ].nH.sub.2 O, wherein M.sub.1 is Na, K, NH.sub.4 or hydrogen, M.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of Ir, Co, Ti, Fe, Cu, Ni, Pt, Mn, Ru, Rh, Hf, V, Be and Pd, X.sub.3 is C.sub.2 O.sub.4, NO.sub.2, Cl, Br, I or ##STR7## "p" is a number in the range of from 1 to 3, "q" is a number in the range of from 1 to 6, and "n" is 0 or a number in the range of from 1 to 10, compounds having the formula IV, (M.sub.1).sub.p [(M.sub.2)(X.sub.3).sub.q (X.sub.4).sub.r ].nH.sub.2 O, wherein M.sub.1, M.sub.2, X.sub.3, "p", "q" and "n" are respectively the same as in the formula III, X.sub.4 is NH.sub.3 or NH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NH.sub.2, and "r" is a number in the range of from 1 to 6, and compounds having the formula V, (M.sub.1).sub.p [(M.sub.2)(X.sub.3).sub.q (X.sub.4).sub.r (X.sub.5).sub.s ].nH.sub.2 O, wherein M.sub.1, M.sub.2, M.sub.3, "p", "q" and "n" are respectively the same as in the formula III, X.sub.4 and "r" are respectively the same as in the formula IV, X.sub.5 is C.sub.2 O.sub.4, NO.sub.2, Cl or Br, and "s" is a number in the range of from 1 to 6.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 in which complex is hexamine cobalt complex.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, wherein said hexamine cobalt complex is selected from the group consisting of [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]Cl.sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](HPO.sub.4).sub.3.4H.sub.2 O, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]PO.sub.4.4H.sub.2 O, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ].(ClO.sub.4).sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](OH).sub.3.6H.sub.2 O, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]SO.sub.4, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]Br, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](NO.sub.3).sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]I.sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]F.sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](CF.sub.3 COO).sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](CCl.sub.3 COO).sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](ClO.sub.3).sub.3, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ]SO.sub.4 Cl, [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](TiCl.sub.6) and [Co(NH.sub.3).sub.6 ](BiCl.sub.6).
- 5. A method according to claim 1, wherein the concentration of said complex is in the range of from 0.1 to 30 weight percent.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein said desensitizing composition contains at least one assistant selected from the group consisting of phosphate and inorganic acid.
- 7. A method according to claim 6, wherein said inorganic acid is phosphoric acid.
- 8. A method according to claim 6, wherein said assistant is phosphate.
- 9. A method according to claim 2, wherein said desensitizing composition contains at least one assistant selected from the group consisting of phosphate and inorganic acid.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, wherein said inorganic acid is phosphoric acid.
- 11. A method according to claim 9, wherein said assistant is phosphate.
- 12. A method according to claim 2, wherein the concentration of said complex is in the range of from 0.1 to 30 weight percent.
- 13. A method according to claim 4, wherein the concentration of said hexamine cobalt complex is in the range of 0.1 to 30 weight percent, and said assistant is selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, metaphosphoric acid, hexaphosphoric acid, trimetaphosphoric acid, dodecaoxo-6-phosphoric acid, hypophosphoric acid, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, triammonium phosphate, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, trisodium phosphate, monopotassium phosphate, dipotassium phosphate, tripotassium phosphate, phosphomolybdic acid, sodium pyrophosphate, ammonium phosphomolybdate, monocalcium phosphate, monomagnesium phosphate, sodium ammonium phosphate, imidometaphosphoric acid, calcium pyrophosphate, the amount of said assistant being in the range of from 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, per one part by weight of said hexamine cobalt complex.
- 14. A method according to claim 1, wherein is I, Br, Cl, Cl.sub.3, Cl.sub.4, C.sub.2 O.sub.4, SO.sub.4, NO.sub.3, NO.sub.2, CH.sub.3, COO, HCOO, BF.sub.4, MnO.sub.4, OH, F, HSO.sub.4, HPO.sub.4, PO.sub.4, HPO.sub.3 and SO.sub.4 X, wherein X is Cl, Br, I, ClO.sub.4 or NO.sub.3.
- 15. A method according to claim 9 wherein the concentration of said assistant is in the range of from 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, per one part by weight of said hexamine cobalt complex.
