Claims
- 1. A method for performing an automatic braking process, comprising the steps of:producing a first brake pressure, during the automatic braking process, which is greater than a second brake pressure which corresponds to an actual position of a brake pedal; detecting a distance to a preceding vehicle; and initiating the automatic braking process with a brake pressure reaching the locking limit on at least one vehicle wheel if the distance to the preceding vehicle is less than a limit value.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the automatic braking process is terminated if the distance to the preceding vehicle is greater than a predetermined value.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the automatic braking process is terminated if a driver has released the brake pedal.
- 4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the automatic braking process is terminated if a vehicle becomes stationary.
- 5. The method according to claim 2, wherein the automatic braking process is terminated if the vehicle becomes stationary.
