This invention was made in the course of, or under, a contract with the United States Energy Research and Development Administration. It relates in general to the dissolution of PuO.sub.2 and particularly to the dissolution of PuO.sub.2 -containing residues resulting from the incomplete HNO.sub.3 or HNO.sub.3 -HF dissolution of irradiated nuclear fuels.
