Claims
- 1. A powder comprising anisotropic chromium-containing particles, wherein said powder is produced by a method comprising the steps of:(a) heating a starting chromium-containing powder comprising non-dendritic particles under conditions suitable for initial stage sintering, thereby forming a lightly sintered material; and (b) breaking the lightly sintered material, thereby forming a powder comprising anisotropic chromium-containing particles having irregular morphology, said particles comprising aggregated and fused non-dendritic chromium-containing particles and having an air-laid density which is lower than the air-laid density of said starting chromium-containing powder.
- 2. The powder of claim 1 wherein the starting chromium-containing powder comprises an alloy of chromium.
- 3. The powder of claim 2 wherein the starting chromium-containing powder consists essentially of chromium.
- 4. A metal powder comprising anisotropic chromium-containing particles having irregular morphology, said particles comprising aggregated and fused non-dendritic chromium-containing particles.
- 5. The powder of claim 4 wherein the chromium-containing particles comprise an alloy of chromium.
