Claims
- 1. A method for stabilizing argillaceous rocks containing reactive clays in the presence of water, wherein said argillaceous rocks are placed in contact with an aqueous solution containing a polymer with hydrophilic groups (Hy) and hydrophobic groups (Hb) so that the polymer is adsorbed by said argillaceous rocks, said groups being able to inhibit swelling of said argillaceous rocks characterized in that:
- the hydrophobic groups contain C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl groups,
- the molecular proportion of said hydrophobic groups is between 5 and 60%,
- said polymer has the following structure:
- Structure a) of the (Hb)-(hydrophilic chain Hy)-(Hb) type wherein the hydrophilic chain Hy is composed of a polyoxyethylene chain with the following general formula: ##STR13## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each H, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl, aryl, or alkylaryl radical, and where a, b, and c, have respectively, the values of: 0 to 50, 0 to 150, and 0 to 50, and (a+b+c) is not zero,
- and in which the hydrophilic groups Hb are alkyl or alkylaryl chains connected to the hydrophobic chain Hy by groups containing at least one urethane function with the following general formula: ##STR14## wherein R.sub.3 is H or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl radical, a C.sub.6 -C.sub.30 cycloalkyl radical, a phenyl radical which may be substituted by one, two, or three C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl radicals, or a fatty acid of the sorbitan type, the molecular weight of said polymer is greater than 27,000 daltons.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, characterized by the polymer corresponding to Structure a) having a hydrophilic chain Hy with the form (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b, where b is 1 to 150, a hydrophobic group Hb with the form CH.sub.3 (CH.sub.2).sub.11, or ##STR15## and by groups with a urethane function joining Hb to Hy having a form selected from the group consisting of ##STR16##
- 3. Method according to claim 1 characterized by the aqueous solution having between 1 and 10 g/liter of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer.
- 4. Utilization of the method according to claim 3 with fluids contacting reactive argillaceous formations, particularly fluids for drilling, fracturing, well treatment, or assisted recovery.
- 5. Drilling fluid characterized by comprising the solution defined in claim 1.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein the polymer having Structure a) includes a hydrophilic chain with the form (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b wherein b is 1 to 150, a hydrophobic group Hb with the form CH.sub.3 (CH.sub.2).sub.11,
