re-reading, after the stopping step, the data read in the reading step.
- 10. A glide testing method for thermally sensing disk defects in a data storage device, the data storage device having a slider configured to fly on an airbearing adjacent a rotating data storage disk, comprising the steps of:
providing a transducer and an auxiliary thermal sensor on the slider, the transducer including means for reading and writing data from and to the data storage disk; scanning at least a portion of a surface of the data storage disk using the auxiliary thermal sensor to detect whether mechanical defects are present.
- 11. The glide testing method as recited in claim 10, wherein the auxiliary thermal senor is wider than the read means of the transducer in a track width direction.
