Claims
- 1. A method for manufacturing a liner having baffles therein for use in flexible bulk containers, comprising the steps of:
- positioning a length of thermoplastic ribbon material adjacent to a length of thermoplastic film sheet;
- heat sealing the ribbon material to the film sheet at spaced apart intervals;
- alternately varying the length of the film sheet adjacent to the length of ribbon material between adjacent heat seals to form pockets of excess film sheet between alternating pairs of the heat seals;
- cutting the film sheet to a length having first and second ends and being substantially equal in length to the circumference of the flexible bulk container and;
- folding the film sheet in half with the attached ribbon on the inside of a first fold and with the first fold extending perpendicular to the length of the ribbon; and
- heat sealing the first and second ends opposite the first fold to form a tubular shaped liner with the pockets of excess film sheet forming corners therein.
- 2. The method for manufacturing a liner of claim 1, further comprising the step of sewing the liner circumferentially to the flexible bulk container at a seam connecting a top panel of the flexible bulk container to a sidewall of the flexible bulk container.
- 3. A method for manufacturing a liner having at least one internal baffle strip, said liner for use inside a flexible bulk container, said flexible bulk container having a sidewall and a predetermined interior cross section, said liner having an exterior cross section dimensioned to conform substantially with the interior cross section of the flexible bulk container, said method of manufacture comprising the steps of:
- providing a continuous sheet of thermoplastic film, said sheet having a first side and a second side;
- positioning a baffle strip of thermoplastic film adjacent to the first side of the continuous sheet;
- heat sealing the baffle strip to the first side of the continuous sheet at a plurality of attachment points, said baffle strip being detached from said continuous sheet except at said attachment points;
- alternately varying the distance between the attachment points along the continuous sheet to form pockets of excess continuous sheet between alternating pairs of heat seals;
- folding the continuous sheet perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the baffle strip with the attached baffle strip positioned on the inside of the continuous sheet thereby forming a first fold; heat sealing ends opposite from the first fold to form a tubular liner with the pockets of excess film sheet forming corners therein; and
- sewing the liner circumferentially to the flexible bulk container at a seam connecting a top panel of the flexible bulk container to the sidewall of the flexible bulk container.

- positioning a baffle strip of thermoplastic film adjacent to the first side of the continuous sheet;
- heat sealing the baffle strip to the first side of the continuous sheet at a plurality of attachment points, said baffle strip being detached from said continuous sheet except at said attachment points;
- alternating lengths of the continuous sheet adjacent to the baffle strip between said attachment points, with a first length of the baffle strip and a first length of the continuous sheet between a first attachment point and second attachment point being equal, and between the second attachment point and a third attachment point a second length of the continuous sheet being greater than a second length of the baffle strip, and between the third attachment point and a fourth attachment point a third length of the baffle strip and a third length of the continuous sheet being again equal, and between the fourth attachment point and the first attachment point a fourth length of the continuous sheet being greater than a fourth length of the baffle strip;
- folding the continuous sheet perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the baffle strip with the attached baffle strip positioned on the inside of the continuous sheet thereby forming a first fold; and
- heat sealing ends opposite from the first fold to form a tubular liner with the pockets of excess film sheet forming corners therein.
- 5. A method for manufacturing a liner having an internal baffle strip, said liner for use inside a flexible bulk container, said flexible bulk container having a sidewall and a predetermined interior cross section, said liner having an exterior cross section dimensioned to conform substantially with said interior cross section of the flexible bulk container, said method of manufacture comprising the steps of:

- positioning a baffle strip of thermoplastic film adjacent to the first side of the continuous sheet;
- heat sealing the baffle strip to the first side of the continuous sheet at a plurality of attachment points, said baffle strip being detached from said continuous sheet except at said attachment points;
- alternately varying the distance between the attachment points along the continuous sheet to form pockets of excess continuous sheet between alternating pairs of heat seals;.
- cutting the continuous sheet to a length substantially equal in length to an interior circumference of the flexible bulk container, thereby forming a rectangular sheet having first and second opposing cut ends;
