Claims
- 1. An apparatus for applying a substance to a human body comprising:
a hearing device; and the substance provided at a surface of said device.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is incorporated into a shell of the hearing device.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said substance exhibits controlled migration through said shell and to the surface of the shell.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said substance is at least one of antibiotically active and an antimicrobial agent.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the surface is roughened.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein the substance is a film disposed in interstices of the surface.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is structured.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the substance is a film disposed in interstices of the surface.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is a micro-structured.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein the substance is a film disposed in interstices of the surface.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the surface is porous.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the substance is disposed in pores of the surface.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the substance is disposed in the pores so as to be slowly dispatched therefrom.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is a gel.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is a liquid.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is a paste.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is antibiotically active.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is an antimicrobial agent.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the substance is a film.
- 20. A method of applying a substance to a human body comprising the steps of:
providing an outer surface of a hearing device with said substance; and applying said hearing device to an individual.
- 21. The method of claim 1 wherein the surface is roughened, structured, or micro-structured and further comprising the step of applying the substance into interstices of the surface.
- 22. The method of claim 20 further comprising the step of incorporating the substance into a shell of the hearing device.
- 23. The method of claim 22 wherein said substance exhibits controlled migration through said shell and to the surface of the shell.
- 24. The method of claim 23 wherein said substance is at least one of antibiotically active and an antimicrobial agent.
