Abstract
A method for manufacturing cold-gorged wing bolts uses short basic rods cut from a solid linear metal material Under the conditions of maintaining the combination capacity of metal material organization to possess close-fitting strength, the short basic rods are cold-forged and compressed into shape through several steps of shaping and trimming and then treated with thread rolling to finish wing bolts. By so designing, the wing bolts can be manufactured simply and quickly, able to lower cost, obtain better quality and production capacity and thus greatly elevate economic gain.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a method for manufacturing cold-forged wing bolts, particularly to one shaping wing bolts mainly by cold forging and compressing. Under the conditions of maintaining the combination capacity of material organization to possess close-fitting strength, a solid linear metal material is cut into short basic rods to be roughly shaped, trimmed, automatically cold-forged, compressed into shape, and then treated through thread rolling to make up wing bolts, able to shorten a manufacturing process, quicken shaping, lower cost, elevate quality and production capacity and thus achieve economic gain.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Substantially, mutual screwing and locking of male threads and female threads is an essential way of mechanical combination. Screw members are classified into various types according to different usage and desired purposes. Take bolts for instance, hexagonal bolts and quadrangular bolts are widely used, and wing bolts are better combination members which have excellent combination strength and are extensively employed in daily necessities inclusive of electric appliances, furniture, TV antenna, collapsible bikes and the like, if extremely forceful locking is not required but only for the convenience of screwing and unscrewing. The advantage of the wing bolts is that it is needless to use a spanner or a screw driver for screwing and unscrewing.

However, a conventional method for making wing bolts is to make a wing nut base and a threaded rod in advance, and then the threaded rod is screwed together with the wing nut base, letting the upper end of the threaded rod protrude out of the wing nut base. Subsequently, the protruding portion of the threaded rod is riveted together with the seat of the wing nut base by forceful compression to make up a wing bolt, as shown in FIG. 6. Formed in this way, the wing bolt has the following drawbacks.

1. Riveting by forceful compression may spoil the organization and structure of the metal material, impossible to possess close-fitting strength of the metal material and likely to make riveting portions chapped and loosened.

2. After a wing bolt is used repeatedly, the riveting portion of the wing bolt will become loosened and it is impossible to apply force to the riveting portion during screwing and locking the wing bolt.

3. The wing nut base prepared in advance is made through complicated processes, slow in processing and unable to heighten production capacity. Referring to FIG. 7, the wing nut base is made of metal sheets that are repeatedly and forcefully compressed and bent into shape. Formed in this way, the wing nut base is easy to produce sharp burr to cut a person's fingers and liable to be oxidized and corroded when exposed to sunlight and rain, easy to be broken by a pulling force.

4. Referring to FIG. 5, the wing nut base prepared in advance can be cast into shape by sand molding. In this way, molten iron is poured into a sand mold to be cast, cooled off and shrunk to produce stress concentration. Made in such a way, the wing portions at two sides are likely to be broken by large external force, having rough surfaces.

A second objective of this invention is to manufacture wing bolts that are automatically and successively cold-forged and compressed into shape in cooperation with a cold forging machine.

A third objective of this invention is to unify a manufacturing process for standardizing product specifications.

A fourth objective of this invention is to manufacture wing bolts with better close-fitting strength by cold work characteristics of cold forging.

A fifth objective of this invention is to entirely use the metal linear material for reducing waste material and elevate economic gain.

The last objective of this invention is to offer a method for manufacturing wing bolts, able to heighten quality and production capacity and reduce the percentage of unqualified products to the minimum.

The method for manufacturing wing bolts in the present invention is to have a solid linear metal material cut into short basic rods to be cold-forged and compressed into shape orderly through shaping and trimming, and then treated through thread rolling to finish wing bolts. By so designing, it can simplify a manufacturing process, reduce equipment of machines and molds, lower cost, quicken shaping and enhance production capacity. In addition, the method for manufacturing wing bolts of this invention will not spoil the combination capacity of the organization of metal material for maintaining the close-fitting strength of the metal material, able to reinforce stability of two wings. Moreover, the whole outline of the wing bolt is smooth, able to enhance quality and greatly elevate industry competitive capability.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a method for manufacturing cold forged wing bolts 5 in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1-4, needs a cold-forging machine, and includes several manufacturing processes. Referring to FIGS 2, 3 and 4, the manufacturing processes of wing bolts of this invention is orderly described as follows.

1. A first step of roughly shaping: A short basic rod 1 cut from a solid linear metal material is placed in a roughly-shaping mold set 5, slightly and gradually cold-forged and compressed therein, letting the upper section of the short basic rod 1 molded into a circular base 21 having opposite sides respectively extending upward to form a plate wing 22 with a pointed tip, and the lower section of the basic rod 1 formed into a smooth circular member 23, thus forming a roughly-shaped unfinished wing bolt 2.

2. A second step of shaping: The roughly-shaped unfinished wing bolt 2 finishing the first step is turned for 90 degrees and horizontally placed in a shaping mold set 6, letting the two plate wing 22 of the roughly-shaped unfinished wing bolt 2 cold-forged and compressed slightly and gradually so that the two plate wings are expanded and molded into thin butterfly-shaped wings 3 with a round tip, while the circular base 21 and the circular member 23 still maintain their original shape in the shaping mold set 6, thus making up the roughly-shaped unfinished wing bolt 2 with two thin butterfly-shaped wings 3.

3. A third step of trimming”: The roughly-shaped unfinished wing bolt 2 finishing the second steps is turned upside down for 180 degrees and horizontally deposited in a trimming mold set 7, carrying out slight and gradual cold-forging and compressing therein so that the circular base 21 of the roughly shaped unfinished wing bolt 2 may be molded into a conical base 4, and at the same time, the trimming mold set 7 trims the two thin butterfly-shaped wings 3 very smooth, thus forming a semi-product having a lower section formed with the circular member 23, an upper section formed with the conical base 4 with two thin butterfly-shaped wings 3.

After the above-mentioned processes, the semi-product is input in a thread rolling machine to carry out thread rolling to cut threads on the circular member 23 to finish a complete wing bolt, as shown in FIG. 5. By so designing, the cold-forged wing bolts of this invention can be shaped quickly, able to lower cost, obtain high quality and production capacity and greatly elevate economic gain

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
