Claims
- 1. A female component for use in a fastening system including a mating male component having a plurality of extending hooks, said female component comprising:
- a substrate comprising a sheet of flexible material; and
- a multiplicity of free formed loop members deposited onto and joined to said substrate, each of said loop members including:
- (a) a base comprising the plane of attachment of said member to said substrate such that said member is joined at said base to said substrate;
- (b) a shank having a proximal end and a distal end, said proximal end being contiguous with said base, said shank projecting longitudinally outwardly from said base and said substrate, said distal end fusing with another loop member thereby providing an opening through which at least one of said hooks may project upon fastenably contacting the male and female components.
- 2. The female component according to claim 1, wherein said shank projects nonperpendicularly and longitudinally outwardly from said substrate.
- 3. The female component according to claim 1, wherein said free formed loops are made from thermoplastic hot melt adhesives.
- 4. The female component according to claim 3, wherein a plurality of loops are joined together, whereby at least two of said joined loops extend from the substrate at varying angles.
- 5. A fastening system, comprising:
- a substrate comprising a sheet of flexible material;
- a plurality of extending hooks deposited onto and joined to said substrate; and
- a multiplicity of free formed loop members deposited onto and joined to said substrate, each of said loop members including:
- (a) a base comprising the plane of attachment of said member to said substrate such that said member is joined at said base to said substrate;
- (b) a shank having a proximal end and a distal end, said proximal end being contiguous with said base, said shank projecting longitudinally outwardly from said base and said substrate, said distal end fusing with another loop member thereby providing an opening therethrough.
- 6. The fastening system according to claim 5, wherein said shank projects nonperpendicularly and longitudinally outwardly from said substrate.
- 7. The fastening system according to claim 5, wherein said free formed loops are made from thermoplastic hot melt adhesives.
- 8. The fastening system according to claim 7, wherein a plurality of loops are joined together, whereby at least two of said joined loops extend from the substrate at varying angles.
- 9. The fastening system according to claim 5, wherein said plurality of extending hooks and said plurality of loop members are disposed in separate rows.
- 10. A female component for use in a fastening system having a male component including a plurality of extending hooks, comprising:
- a substrate comprising a sheet of flexible material; and
- a multiplicity of free formed agglomerated loop members deposited onto and joined to said substrate, each of said agglomerated loop members including:
- (a) a base comprising the plane of attachment of said member to said substrate such that said member is joined at said base to said substrate;
- 11. The female component according to claim 10, wherein said shank projects nonperpendicularly and longitudinally outwardly from said substrate.
- 12. The female component according to claim 10, wherein said free formed agglomerated loops are made from thermoplastic hot melt adhesives.
- 13. The female component according to claim 12, wherein a plurality of loops are joined together, whereby at least two of said joined loops extend from the substrate at varying angles.
