Claims
- 1. A method of molding an optical glass element comprising the steps of:
- disposing a glass blank between upper and lower mold;
- heating said molds and said glass blank with infrared ray lamps; and
- press molding said glass blank,
- wherein said improvement method comprises the steps of:
- detecting a temperature of said upper and lower molds and outputting a signal based on said temperature; and
- independently controlling electrical inputs to said infrared ray lamps respectively corresponding to said upper and lower molds so that said temperatures of said upper and lower molds remain at a predetermined temperature.
- 2. The method according to claim 1 wherein each of said infrared ray lamps comprises a pair of semicircular lamps which are combined in a plane to form one stage of said infrared ray lamps, and several stages are disposed to surround said upper and lower molds respectively.
- 3. The method according to claim 1 wherein each infrared ray lamp comprises a halogen lamp having a helically wound tungsten lamp which generates infrared rays having a peak wavelength of 1.2.about.1.8 .mu.m.
