Claims
- 1. A method of forming a container from a blank having the upper profiled pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures obtained from a rectangular container blank, said method comprising: scoring and cutting a blank to form a container having
- two straight side edges and upper and lower edges,
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and respectively the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of the blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips; folding two of said four upper lips over about the intermediate score line obtaining the upper gable-top profile.
- 2. A method of forming a container from a blank having the upper profiled pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures obtained from a rectangular container blank, said method comprising: scoring and cutting a blank to form a container having
- two straight side edges and upper and lower edges,
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and respectively the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of the blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips; folding said four upper lips over about the intermediate score line obtaining the upper flat-top profile.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out simultaneously with forming the short cut lines.
- 4. The method according to claim 1, further including seaming the blank side, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out after seaming the blank side.
- 5. The method according to claim 2, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out simultaneously with forming the short cut lines.
- 6. The method according to claim 2, further including seaming the blank side, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out after seaming the blank side.
- 7. A method of forming from a continuous paperboard web container blanks having the upper profiled pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures comprising a set of adjacent equal rectangular blanks, each blank being defined by score lines forming two straight side edges and upper and lower edges; said method comprising: scoring and cutting each blank to form a container having
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and, respectively, the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- forming a set of rectilinear cut lines along said upper and lower edges simultaneously with forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of each blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips.
- 8. A method of forming from a continuous paperboard web container blanks having the upper profiled pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures comprising a set of adjacent equal rectangular blanks, each blank being defined by score lines forming two straight side edges and upper and lower edges; said method comprising: scoring and cutting each blank to form a container having
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and respectively the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- forming a set of rectilinear cut lines along said upper and lower edges and after seaming the blank sides forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of each blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips.
- 9. The method of claim 7 further comprising folding two of said four upper lips over about the intermediate score line obtaining the upper gable-top profiles.
- 10. The method of claim 7 further comprising folding said four upper lips over about the extension of the intermediate score line obtaining the upper flat-top profiles.
- 11. The method of claim 8 further comprising folding two of said four upper lips over about the intermediate score line obtaining the upper gable-top profiles.
- 12. The method of claim 8 further comprising folding said four upper lips over about the extension of the intermediate score line obtaining the upper flat-top profiles.
- 13. The method according to claim 9, 10, 11 or 12, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out simultaneously with forming the short cut lines on the web.
- 14. The method according to claim 11 or 12, characterized in that folding of said lips is carried out after seaming the blank sides.
- 15. The method according to claim 7 or 8, characterized in that said short cut lines are formed to project on both sides with respect to the rectilinear cut lines.
- 16. The method according to claim 9, 10, 11 or 12, characterized in that said short cut lines are formed to project on both sides with respect to the rectilinear cut lines.
- 17. A method of forming a container blank having the upper profile pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures form a continuous paperboard web comprising a set of adjacent equal rectangular blanks;
- said method comprising: scoring and cutting each blank to form a container having score lines forming two straight side edges and upper and lower edges,
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and respectively the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- seaming the blank sides; forming a set of rectilinear cut lines along said upper and lower edges simultaneously with forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of each blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips; foldingn two of said four upper lips over about the intermediate score line obtaining the upper gable-top profiles.
- 18. A method of forming a container blank having the upper profile pattern adapted alternatively for upper gable-top or upper flat-top closures from a continuous paperboard web comprising a set of adjacent equal rectangular blanks;
- said method comprising: scoring and cutting each blank to form a container having score lines forming two straight side edges and upper and lower edges,
- four side panels and a narrower fifth side closure panel defined by score lines parallel to each other and the side edges and score lines at an upper edge and at a lower edge of the panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, the fifth panel being seamable to another panel in forming a container,
- upper and lower closure panels defined by extensions of the parallel score lines and further score lines outside of the side panels at right angles to the parallel score lines, alternate ones of which closure panels provide triangles defined by score lines extending from the respective upper and lower edges of the adjacent side panels to an apex at the further score line, one triangle on each closure panel having a base coincident, respectively, with the upper or lower edge of the adjacent side panels, the triangles permitting folding of the closure panels to form upper and lower closures of the container,
- lip panels adjacent each closure panel defined by extensions of the parallel score lines to the upper and lower edges of the blank and a score line joining the apices of the upper and lower closure triangles and respectively the lower and upper edge of the blank, at least the lip panels at the top end of the blank having an intermediate score line parallel to and lying between the upper edge of the blank and the further score line separating the closure and lip panels;
- seaming the blank sides; forming a set of rectilinear cut lines along said upper and lower edges simultaneously with forming short cut lines extending from the upper edge of each blank to the intermediate score line along said extensions of the parallel score lines forming the respective side panels defining the lip panels as four upper lips; folding said four upper lips over about the extension of the intermediate score line obtaining the upper flat-top profiles.
- 19. The method according to claim 17 or 18, characterized in that said short cut lines are formed to project on both sides with respect to the rectilinear cut lines.
