Claims
- 1. A method for making a methyl methacrylate polymer having high resistance to ultraviolet radiation and thermal damage, which method comprises polymerizing methyl methacrylate or a monomer mixture comprising at least 80 percent by weight of methyl methacrylate in the presence of a free radical-forming initiator and in the presence of 0.01 to 1 percent, by weight of the methyl methacrylate or monomer mixture, of a sterically hindered amine of the formula
- where n is an integer such that the number average molecular weight of the amine is somewhat greater than 3000.
- 2. A method for making a methyl methacrylate polymer having high resistance to ultraviolet radiation and thermal damage, which method comprises polymerizing methyl methacrylate or a monomer mixture comprising at least 80 percent by weight of methyl methacrylate in the presence of a free radical-forming initiator and in the presence of 0.01 to 1 percent, by weight of the methyl methacrylate or monomer mixture, of a sterically hindered amine of the formula ##STR8## wherein n is an integer such that the number average molecular weight of the amine is somewhat greater than 2500.
