Claims
- 1. Lumber which is resistant to non-microbial enzymatic staining, said lumber having been treated when it is green, by the application of mechanical force for a time and at a pressure sufficient to reduce or eliminate said non-microbial staining and wherein said lumber is free from chemical agents used to prevent said non-microbial enzymatic staining.
- 2. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said mechanical force is compression force and/or vibration force.
- 3. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said mechanical force is applied to said green lumber at a pressure of from 200 to 1800 psi.
- 4. The lumber of claim 3, wherein said mechanical force is applied to said green lumber for a total time of from 0.1 seconds to 10 minutes.
- 5. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said mechanical force is applied to said green lumber by a compression roller.
- 6. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said mechanical force is applied to said green lumber by a press.
- 7. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said mechanical force is applied to said green lumber by compression and vibration.
- 8. The lumber of claim 1, wherein said green lumber is dried after the application of said mechanical force.
