Claims
- 1. A method of producing tert-butyl 3-oxobutyrate, characterized by allowing tert-butyl alcohol to react with diketene at a temperature of 25.degree. C. to 80.degree. C. for 0.3 to 3 hours in the presence of a 4-(tertiary amino)pyridine of the formula: ##STR7## wherein Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2 independently stand for a C.sub.1-6 group of are combined together with the adjacent nitrogen atom to form a cyclic amino group.
