Claims
- 1. A method for protecting the surface of a shaped article of a polymeric material which comprises providing the surface with a coating layer of an organopolysiloxane composed of from 50 to 85% by moles of difunctional organosiloxane units represented by the general formula R.sup.1.sub.2 SiO, from 10 to 30% by moles of tetrafunctional siloxane units expressed by the formula SiO.sub.2 and from 5 to 20% by moles of monofunctional organosiloxane units represented by the general formula R.sup.2.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5, in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group, not all of the groups denoted by R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 being hydrogen atoms.
- 2. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein at least 60% by moles of the groups denoted by R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are methyl groups.
