Claims
- 1. A method for reading a nuclear fuel identification code marked on a fuel assembly, comprising the steps of:
- providing an optical sensor and an ultrasonic wave sensor;
- at least initially detecting the nuclear fuel identification code by the optical sensor;
- terminating recognition for the nuclear fuel identification code when the nuclear fuel identification code can be recognized based on information derived from the optical sensor as the reading of the nuclear fuel identification code;
- detecting the nuclear fuel identification code by the ultrasonic wave sensor when the nuclear fuel identification code can not be recognized based on the information derived from the optical sensor; and
- recognizing the nuclear fuel identification code based on the information derived from said ultrasonic wave sensor as the reading of the nuclear fuel identification code.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the nuclear fuel identification code marked on the fuel assembly is marked on an upper tie plate of the fuel assembly, the fuel assembly having a lower tie plate and a plurality of fuel rods with opposite ends thereof held by the upper tie plate and the lower tie plate.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, wherein the nuclear fuel identification code includes a first nuclear fuel identification code detectable by the optical sensor and a second nuclear fuel identification code detectable by the ultrasonic wave sensor, the first and second nuclear fuel identification codes being marked adjacent to each other on the upper tie plate.
- 4. A method for reading a nuclear fuel identification code, comprising the steps of:
- providing an optical sensor and an ultrasonic wave sensor;
- at least initially detecting a first nuclear fuel identification code marked on a fuel assembly by the optical sensor;
- terminating recognition for the first nuclear fuel identification code when the first nuclear fuel identification code can be recognized based on information derived from the optical sensor as the reading of the first nuclear fuel identification code;
- detecting a second nuclear fuel identification code marked on the fuel assembly adjacent to the first nuclear fuel identification code by the ultrasonic wave sensor when the first nuclear fuel identification code can not be recognized based on the information derived from said optical sensor; and
- recognizing the second nuclear fuel identification code based on information derived from the ultrasonic wave sensor as the reading of the second nuclear fuel identification code.
- 5. A method according to claim 4, wherein the first nuclear fuel identification code and the second nuclear fuel identification code are marked on an upper tie plate of the nuclear fuel assembly, the fuel assembly including a lower tie plate and a plurality of fuel rods with opposite ends thereof held by the upper tie plate and the lower tie plate.
- 6. A method for reading a nuclear fuel identification code marked on a fuel assembly comprising the steps of:
- providing an optical sensor and an ultrasonic wave sensor;
- positioning an optical sensor for detecting the nuclear fuel identification code marked on the fuel assembly above the fuel assembly to be detected;
- detecting the nuclear fuel identification code by the optical sensor;
- terminating recognition for the nuclear fuel identification code when the nuclear fuel identification code can be recognized based on information derived from the optical sensor as the reading of the nuclear fuel identification code;
- positioning an ultrasonic wave sensor in place of the optical sensor above the fuel assembly when the nuclear fuel identification code can not be recognized based on the information derived from the optical sensor;
- detecting the nuclear fuel identification code by the ultrasonic wave sensor; and
- recognizing the nuclear fuel identification code based on information derived from the ultrasonic wave sensor as the reading of the nuclear fuel identification code.
- 7. A method according to claim 6, wherein the nuclear fuel identification code marked on the fuel assembly is marked on an upper tie plate of the fuel assembly, the fuel assembly including a lower tie plate and a plurality of fuel rods having opposite ends thereof held by the upper tie plate and the lower the plate.
- 8. A method according to claim 7, wherein the nuclear fuel identification code includes a first nuclear fuel identification code detectable by the optical sensor and a second nuclear fuel identification code of a different expression from that of the first nuclear fuel identification code marked adjacent to the first nuclear fuel identification code and detectable by the ultrasonic wave sensor.
