Claims
- 1. A method to seat a bearing assembly having a seating flange with a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end into an actuator assembly that can access a rotatable data storage medium, comprising the steps of:
providing an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, a voice coil holder, and at least one arm; inserting the bearing assembly into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the bearing assembly to seat the bearing assembly in the bore; wherein the bearing assembly is rotated by engaging the wrenching flat of the seating flange.
- 2. A method to seat a bearing assembly having a seating flange at a first end and a screw thread at a second end into an actuator assembly that can access a rotatable data storage medium, comprising the steps of:
providing an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, a voice coil holder, and at least one arm; inserting the bearing assembly into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the bearing assembly to seat the bearing assembly in the bore.
- 3. A method to seat a bearing assembly having a seating flange with a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end into an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, a voice coil holder, and at least one arm, comprising the steps of:
inserting the bearing assembly into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the bearing assembly to seat the bearing assembly in the bore; wherein the bearing assembly is rotated by engaging the wrenching flat of the seating flange.
- 4. A method to seat a bearing assembly having a seating flange with a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end into an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, a voice coil holder, and at least one arm, comprising the steps of:
inserting the bearing assembly into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the bearing assembly to seat the bearing assembly in the bore.
- 5. A method to seat a cartridge bearing having a threaded base into an actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, comprising the steps of:
inserting the cartridge bearing into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the threaded base of the cartridge bearing with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the cartridge bearing to seat the cartridge bearing in the bore.
- 6. A method to seat a cartridge bearing having a screw thread at a distal end into an actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, comprising the steps of:
inserting the cartridge bearing into the bore of the actuator assembly; engaging the screw thread of the cartridge bearing with the threaded base of the bore; and rotating the cartridge bearing to seat the cartridge bearing in the bore.
- 7. A method to remove a bearing assembly having a seating flange with a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end from an actuator assembly, comprising the steps of:
providing an actuator assembly to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a voice coil holder, at least one arm, and a bore having a threaded base, wherein the bearing assembly is seated in the bore such that the screw thread of the bearing assembly engages the threaded base of the bore; engaging the wrenching flat of the seating flange; rotating the bearing assembly to unseat the bearing assembly in the bore; disengaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the bearing assembly from the bore.
- 8. A method to remove a bearing assembly having a seating flange with a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end from an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a voice coil holder, at least one arm, and a bore having a threaded base, wherein the bearing assembly is seated in the bore such that the screw thread of the bearing assembly engages the threaded base of the bore, comprising the steps of:
engaging the wrenching flat of the seating flange; rotating the bearing assembly to unseat the bearing assembly in the bore; disengaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the bearing assembly from the bore.
- 9. A method to remove a bearing assembly having a seating flange at a first end and a screw thread at a second end from an actuator assembly adapted to sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of a disk to an inner diameter of the disk, which actuator assembly including a voice coil holder, at least one arm, and a bore having a threaded base, wherein the bearing assembly is seated in the bore such that the screw thread of the bearing assembly engages the threaded base of the bore, comprising the steps of:
engaging the seating flange; rotating the bearing assembly to unseat the bearing assembly in the bore; disengaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the bearing assembly from the bore.
- 10. A method to remove a bearing assembly having a seating flange having a wrenching flat at a first end and a screw thread at a second end from an actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, wherein the bearing assembly is seated in the bore such that the screw thread of the bearing assembly engages the threaded base of the bore, comprising the steps of:
engaging the wrenching flat of the seating flange; rotating the bearing assembly to unseat the bearing assembly in the bore; disengaging the screw thread of the bearing assembly from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the bearing assembly from the bore.
- 11. A method to remove a cartridge bearing having a threaded base from an actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, wherein the cartridge bearing is seated in the bore such that the threaded base of the cartridge bearing engages the threaded base of the bore, comprising the steps of:
rotating the cartridge bearing to unseat the cartridge bearing in the bore; disengaging the threaded base of the cartridge bearing from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the cartridge bearing from the bore.
- 12. A method to remove a cartridge bearing having a screw thread at a distal end from an actuator assembly including a bore having a threaded base, wherein the cartridge bearing is seated in the bore such that the screw thread of the cartridge bearing engages the threaded base of the bore, comprising the steps of:
rotating the cartridge bearing to unseat the cartridge bearing in the bore; disengaging the screw thread of the cartridge bearing from the threaded base of the bore; and removing the cartridge bearing from the bore.
