Claims
- 1. A method for stabilizing an organosilicone selected from organopolysiloxanes having a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide, methacrylamide, styryl and vinylbenzyl radicals, said method comprising adding to said organosilicone a stabilizing amount of a hydroxylamine compound selected from the group consisting of those having the general formula
- Q.sub.2 NOH
- in which Q independently denotes an alkyl radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 9 carbon atoms, and those having the formula ##STR20## in which G denotes a hydrocarbyl group having 5 to 11 carbon atoms.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said organosilicone is an organopolysiloxane comprising a plurality of independently selected units of the formula ##STR21## wherein Z is a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide, methacrylamide, styryl and vinylbenzyl radicals, R' is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl radicals having 1-6 carbon atoms, monovalent cycloaliphatic radicals, aryl groups, monovalent halohydrocarbyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and monovalent haloaromatic groups, c is 0, 1, 2 or 3, d is 0, 1 or 2 and the sum (c+d) is less than 4.
- 3. The method of claim 2, where in said hydroxylamine compound is selected from the group consisting of diethylhydroxylamine and dibenzylhydroxylamine.
- 4. The method of claim 2, wherein Z is a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide and methacrylamide radicals.
- 5. The method of claim 4, wherein said organopolysiloxane is selected from the group consisting of those having average structures which may be represented by the formulae ##STR22## wherein x is 0 to about 100 and y is 1 ,to about 30.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein R' is selected from the group consisting of methyl, phenyl and trifuoropropyl radicals.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein said hydroxylamine compound is diethylhydroxylamine.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein R' is methyl, x is less than about 70, y iss 1 to 4 and Z is selected from the group consisting of the structures. ##STR23## in which Me denotes a methyl radical.
- 9. The method of claim 6, wherein said hydroxylamine compound is dibenzylhydroxylamine.
- 10. A composition comprising an organosilicone selected from organopolysiloxanes having a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide, methacrylamide, styryl and vinylbenzyl radicals; and a tabilizing amount of a hydroxylamine compound selected from the group consisting of those having the general formula
- Q.sub.2 NOH
- in which Q independently denotes an alkyl radicals having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 9 carbon atoms, and those having the formula ##STR24## in which G denotes a hydrocarbyl group having 5 to 11 carbon atoms.
- 11. The composition of claim 10, where in said organosilicone is an organopolysiloxane comprising a plurality of independently selected units of the formula ##STR25## wherein Z is a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide, methacrylamide, styryl and vinylbenzyl radicals, R' is indepeddently selected from the group consisting of alkyl radicals having 1-6 carbon atoms, monovalent cycloaliphatic radicals, aryl groups, monovalent halohydrocarbyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and monovalent haloaromatic groups, c is 0, 1, 2 or 3, d is 0, 1 or 2 and the sum (c+d) is less than 4.
- 12. The composition of claim 11, wherein said hydroxylamine compound is selected from the group consisting of diethylhydroxylamine and dibenzylhydroxylamine.
- 13. The composition of claim 11, wherein Z is a reactive organic group bearing at least one radical selected from the group consisting of acryloxy, methacryloxy, acrylamide and methacrylamide radicals.
- 14. The composition of claim 13, wherein said organopolysiloxane is selected from the group consisting of those having average structures which may be represented by the formulae ##STR26## wherein x is 0 to about 100 and y is 1 to about 30.
- 15. The composition of claim 14, wherein R' is selected from the group consisting of methyl, phenyl and trifuoropropyl radicals.
- 16. The composition of claim 15, wherein said hydroxylamine compound is diethylhydroxylamine.
- 17. The composition of claim 16, wherein R' is methyl, x is less than about 70, y is 1 to 4 and Z is selected from the group consisting of the structures. ##STR27## in which Me denotes a methyl radical.
- 18. The composition of claim 15, wherein said hydroxylamine compound is dibenzylhydroxylamine.
- 19. The composition of claim 11, further comprising a stabilizer for said organosilicone selected from the group consisting of monomethylether of hydroquinone, 4-tertbutylcatechol, 2,6-dibutyl-4-methylphenol, hydroquinone and phenothiazine.
