Claims
- 1. A method for storing a biological organ transplant graft for transplanting by placing said biological organ graft in an adapted storage medium comprising the step of adding to said storage medium at least one compound of formula (I): wherein:
- R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; lower alkyl; --OR.sup.6 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.q NH.sub.2 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m NHSO.sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.2 NH.sub.2 ; --CN; --SO.sub.3 H; F; Cl; Br; I; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m R.sup.8 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m COR.sup.8 ; --S(O)NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; SO.sub.2 NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.p COR.sup.8 ; and R.sup.9 ;
- R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; lower alkyl; --OR.sup.6 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m NR.sup.6 R.sup.7); --(CH.sub.2).sub.q NH.sub.2 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m NHSO.sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.2 NH.sub.2 ; --CN; --SO.sub.3 H; F; Cl; Br; I; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m R.sup.8 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m COR.sup.8 ; --S(O)NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; --SO.sub.2 NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.p COR.sup.8 and R.sup.9 ;
- R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m COR.sup.8 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.q R.sup.8 ; --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.p COR.sup.8 ; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m SO.sub.2 R.sup.8 ; and --(CH.sub.2).sub.m S(O)R.sup.8 ;
- R.sup.4 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; --(CH.sub.2).sub.p COR.sup.8 ; and --(CH.sub.2).sub.p R.sup.8 ; and F;
- R.sup.5 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl; aralkyl; and substituted aralkyl;
- R.sup.6 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; --(CH.sub.2).sub.m COR.sup.8 ; and (CH.sub.2).sub.q R.sup.8 ;
- R.sup.7 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; and --(CH.sub.2).sub.m COR.sup.8 ;
- R.sup.8 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; aryl; substituted aryl; heteroaryl; substituted heteroaryl; hydroxy; lower alkoxy; and R.sup.9 ;
- R.sup.9 is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR12## R.sup.10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; lower alkyl; aralkyl; substituted aralkyl; aryl and substituted aryl;
- y.sup.- represents the anion of a pharmaceutically acceptable acid:
- n=0 or 1;
- m=0, 1 or 2;
- p=1, 2 or 3;
- q=2, 3 or 4;
- r=0 or 1;
- and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof of acids or bases;
- there being no more than one substituent R.sup.9 in each molecule of formula I.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said organ transplant graft is selected from the group consisting of heart, liver, kidney and lung.
- 3. A method for storing a biological organ transplant graft for transplanting by placing said biological organ graft in an adapted storage medium comprising the step of adding to said storage medium 4,4-dimethyl-benzisoselenazine or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid or base salt thereof.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said organ transplant graft is selected form the group consisting of heart, liver, kidney and lung.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound of formula I is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the storage medium.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound of formula I is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 1% by weight of the storage medium.
- 7. The method of claim 3, wherein the said 4,4-dimethyl-benzisoselen-azine or pharmaceutically acceptable acid or base salt thereof is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the storage medium.
- 8. The method of claim 3, wherein the said 4,4-dimethyl-benzisoselenazine or pharmaceutically acceptable acid or base salt thereof is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging form 0.1% to 1% by weight of the storage medium.
- 9. A method for storing a biological organ transplant graft for transplanting by placing said biological organ graft in an adapted storage medium comprising the step of adding to said storage medium a benzisoselen-azoline or -azine compound selected from the group consisted of 3,3-N dimethyl-benzisoselenazoline, 2-acetyl-3,3-dimethyl-benzisoselenazoline, 3,3-dimethyl-2-ethyl-benzisoselenazoline, 3-3-dimethyl-benzisoselenazoline-1-oxide, 3,3-dimethyl-7-nitro-benzisoselenazoline, 3,3'-dimethyl-5-nitro-benzisoselenazoline, 3,3-dimethyl-7-fluoro-benzisoselenazoline, 4-4-dimethyl-benzisoselenazine-1-oxide, 4,4-dimethyl-2-ethyl-benzisoselenazine, 4,4-dimethyl-6-methoxy-benzisoselenazine, 4,4-dimethyl-6-(2'-(1"-methylpiperazine 1"-yl)ethoxybenzisoselenazine and pharmaceutically acceptable acid or base salts thereof.
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein said organ transplant graft is selected from the group consisting of heart, liver, kidney and lung.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the benzisoselen-azoline or -azine derivative is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the storage medium.
- 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the benzisoselen-azoline or -azine derivative is added to the storage medium at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 1% by weight of the storage medium.
