Claims
- 1. Method for the operation of a carbonization plant, in which coking furnaces are periodically charged with pre-heated coal, and the obtained coke is subjected to a dry cooling by means of a gaseous cooling medium, heat discharged from the dry cooling of the coke being used for the pre-heating of the coal, comprising pre-heating the coal by indirect heat exchange in a traveling bed drier without fluidization of said coal, resistance during flowing of said coal being overcome by the particular weight thereof, said traveling bed drier having a heat exchange tube and passing gas or waste-heat vapor from the dry cooling of the coke through said tube, said drier being arranged and constructed to permit the coal to flow therethrough via gravity, said drier comprising said heat exchange tubes and frame means; said heat exchange tube displaying surface-increasing means on its coal side, said tube being accomodated in said frame means, said frame means having a side displaying vapor or hot gas entry connected to said tube, a conical tapering in the direction of the coal feed, as well as a plurality of drain connections at different levels on a side lying opposite said side displaying vapor or hot gas entry, and discharging exhaust gas-containing vapors released from the coal during pre-heating through said drain connections.
- 2. Method according to claim 1, further comprising cleaning, cooling and condensing the withdrawn exhaust gas-containing vapors, and then passing them into a waste water discharge.
- 3. Method according to claim 1, further comprising pre-heating the coal by means of a fluidized bed drier having a heat exchange tube, said fluidized bed drier being superposed upon said traveling bed drier, to a temperature between about 60.degree. and 100.degree. C., said pre-heating being effected to dry the coal only to the extent that a sufficient flowability thereof is guaranteed in the traveling bed drier, heating said coal in said traveling bed drier to a final temperature of about 200.degree. C. and then drying said coal to a residual water content of about 0.1% by weight.
- 4. Method according to claim 3, further comprising for supplementing heating of the travelling bed drier or the fluidized bed drier, combusting a solid, liquid or gaseous fuel in a separate combustion chamber, thereby producing flue gas, and heating the heat exchange tube of the travelling bed drier or the fluidized bed drier with said flue gas.
- 5. Method according to claim 4, further comprising adjusting the temperature of said flue gas through admixture with steam, to the desired value.
- 6. Method according to claim 5, wherein said steam is provided by partially or completely branching off steam from a stream of vapors resulting from the pre-heating of the coal.
- 7. Method according to claim 1, further comprising for supplementing heating of the traveling bed drier, combusting a solid, liquid or gaseous fuel in a separate combustion chamber, thereby producing flue gas, and heating the heat exchange tube of the traveling bed drier with said flue gas.
