Claims
- 1. A method for relieving gastrointestinal hyperacidity or ulceration comprising administering to a patient suffering from said gastrointestinal hyperacidity or ulceration a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg and 500 mg per dosage unit of at least one compound of the formula: ##STR6## where: R is hydrogen or
- loweralkyl;
- R.sub.2 is loweralkyl;
- R.sub.4 is loweralkyl;
- halo or
- loweralkoxy;
- R.sub.6 is hydrogen,
- loweralkyl,
- halo,
- haloloweralkyl,
- nitro,
- loweralkylsulfonyl or
- loweralkoxy; and
- the non-toxic acid addition salts thereof.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 where:
- R is hydrogen or
- loweralkyl;
- R.sub.2 is loweralkyl;
- R.sub.4 is loweralkyl or
- halo; and
- R.sub.6 is loweralkyl or
- halo.
- 3. A method according to claim 2 where:
- R is hydrogen or
- methyl;
- R.sub.2 is methyl or
- ethyl;
- R.sub.4 is methyl,
- ethyl,
- propyl,
- i-propyl,
- butyl,
- chloro,
- bromo or
- fluoro; and
- R.sub.6 is methyl,
- ethyl,
- chloro,
- bromo or
- fluoro.
- 4. A method according to claim 3 where:
- R is hydrogen or
- methyl;
- R.sub.2 is methyl or
- ethyl;
- R.sub.4 is methyl,
- ethyl,
- chloro,
- bromo or
- fluoro; and
- R.sub.6 is methyl,
- ethyl,
- chloro or
- bromo.
- 5. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)urea.
- 6. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-(2,4-dimethyl-6-chlorophenyl)urea.
- 7. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-(2,6-dimethyl-4-ethylphenyl)urea.
- 8. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compoud is 1-amidino-3-(2-methyl-4-ethyl-6-chlorophenyl)urea.
- 9. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-(2,4,6-triethylphenyl)urea.
- 10. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-methyl-3-(2,4-dimethyl-6-chlorophenyl)urea.
- 11. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is 1-amidino-3-methyl-3-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)urea.
