- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the item is substantially free of latex.
- 3. A method according to claim 1, wherein the item is adapted for contact with a human body.
- 4. A method according to claim 1, wherein the item is selected from the group consisting of pet toys, pet collars, flea collars, pet carriers, children's toys, bottles, nipples, baby bottles and bottle liners, teething rings, pacificers, gloves, medical tubing, blood pressure cuffs, clothing elastic, face masks, sutures, anathesia mouthpieces, toothbrushes, toothpicks, dental floss, dental bite blocks, dental cofferdams, dental retainers, mouth guards, respirator bellows, adhesive tape, bandages, sheets, pads, bed pans, waste bags, enema bags and tips, intravenous fluid bags, bulb syringes, elastic bands and mixtures thereof.
- 5. A method according to claim 1, wherein R1 is a C1-2 alkyl and n is 1.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein R1 is H and n is 2.
- 7. A method according to claim 1, wherein the biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer comprises a third randomly repeating monomer unit having the structure:
- 8. A method of reducing exposure to plasticizers comprising forming an item adapted for contact with a human or animal body or component thereof, of a material comprising a biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer comprising two randomly repeating monomer units wherein the first randomly repeating monomer unit has the structure:
- 9. A method according to claim 8, wherein the item is substantially free of phthalate plasticizer.
- 10. A method according to claim 8, wherein the item is substantially free of latex.
- 11. A method according to claim 8, wherein the biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer comprises a third randomly repeating monomer unit having the structure:
- 12. A method according to claim 8, wherein the item is adapted for contact with a human body.
- 13. A method according to claim 12, wherein the item is adapted for contact with skin.
- 14. A method according to claim 12, wherein the item is adapted for contact with mucous membranes.
- 15. A method according to claim 8, wherein the item is selected from the group consisting of pet toys, pet collars, flea collars, pet carriers, children's toys, nipples, baby bottles and bottle liners, teething rings, pacificers, gloves, medical tubing, blood pressure cuffs, clothing elastic, face masks, sutures, anathesia mouthpieces, toothbrushes, toothpicks, dental floss, dental bite blocks, dental cofferdams, dental retainers, mouth guards, respirator bellows, adhesive tape, bandages, sheets, pads, bed pans, waste bags, enema bags and tips, intravenous fluid bags, bulb syringes, elastic bands and mixtures thereof.
- 16. A non-latex-allergenic item adapted for contact with a human or animal body or component thereof, of a material comprising a biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer comprising two randomly repeating monomer units wherein the first randomly repeating monomer unit has the structure:
- 17. An item according to claim 16, wherein R1 is a C1-2 alkyl and n is 1.
- 18. An item according to claim 16, wherein R1 is H and n is 2.
- 19. An item according to claim 16, wherein the biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer comprises a third randomly repeating monomer unit having the structure:
- 20. An item according to claim 16, wherein the container element is further substantially free of phthalate plasticizers.
- 21. An item according to claim 16, wherein the item is selected from the group consisting of pet toys, children's toys, nipples, baby bottles and bottle liners, teething rings, pacificers, gloves, medical tubing, blood pressure cuffs, face masks, anathesia mouthpieces, toothbrushes, toothpicks, dental floss, dental bite blocks, dental cofferdams, dental retainers, mouth guards, respirator bellows, bed pans, waste bags, enema bags and tips, intravenous fluid bags and mixtures thereof.
