Claims
- 1. A composite of a ceramic having a layer of Ag or Au present at the surface thereof, a first metal selected from the group consisting of In and alloys thereof bonded to the layer of Ag or Au, and a second metal bonded to the first metal.
- 2. The composite of claim 1, wherein the layer of Au or Ag is Ag and is greater than about 300 angstroms.
- 3. The composite of claim 1, wherein the second metal is selected from Cu, Al, Pb, Zn and alloys thereof.
- 4. The composite of claim 1, wherein the second metal is selected from Cu, Al Pb, Zn and alloys thereof.
- 5. The composite of claim 2, wherein the ceramic has zero resistivity and complete diamagnetism at superconducting temperatures.
- 6. The composite of claim 3, wherein the second metal is Cu, Al or an alloy thereof.
- 7. The composite of claim 4, wherein the second metal is Cu, Al or an alloy thereof.
- 8. A superconducting oxide ceramic having a thin layer of silver, gold or alloys thereof at the surface thereof, a first metal of In or alloys thereof bonded to the thin layer and a second metal bonded to the first metal, wherein the first metal forms a stable intermetallic phase or solid solution with the silver or gold layer at a temperature less than about 150.degree. C., the first and second meals form a stable intermetallic phase or solid structure at a temperature less than about 150.degree. C. and the second metal is an electrical conductor.
- 9. The oxide ceramic of claim 8, wherein said ceramic is an elongated strand.
- 10. The oxide ceramic of claim 8, wherein said ceramic is an elongated tape.
- 11. The oxide ceramic of claim 8, wherein said ceramic is an elongated wire.
- 12. The oxide ceramic of claim 8, wherein the thin layer is silver or an alloy thereof having a thickness not less than about 300 angstroms, and the second metal is selected from the class consisting of Cu, Al, Pb, Zn and alloys thereof.
