Claims
- 1. A method of breaking interlaminar bonds between the laminations of an amorphous metal core after heat treatment, said core comprising a plurality of amorphous metal laminations formed into a shape and having an unjointed yoke portion, a jointed yoke portion having first and second ends, and a pair of leg portions comprising the steps of:
- suspending the core with the jointed yoke portion hanging downwardly below the unjointed yoke portion;
- separating the jointed yoke portion such that the leg portions hang downwardly from the unjointed yoke portion; and
- moving the leg portions relative to one another so as to displace at least some of the laminations longitudinally relative to one another.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said moving step comprises flexing the leg portions by pivoting the leg portions relative to the unjointed yoke portion.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said moving step comprises vibrating said leg portions.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said moving step comprises pivoting the leg portions back-and-forth toward and away from one another and relative to the unjointed yoke portion.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said moving step is manually performed.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said moving step comprises striking said leg portions.
- 7. A method of breaking interlaminar bonds between the laminations of an amorphous metal core after heat treatment, said core comprising a plurality of amorphous metal laminations formed into a shape and having an unjointed yoke portion, a jointed yoke portion having first and second ends, and a pair of leg portions, comprising the steps of:
- suspending the core with the jointed yoke portion hanging downwardly below the unjointed yoke portion;
- separating the jointed yoke portion such that the leg portions hang downwardly from the unjointed yoke portion; and
- vibrating the leg portions of the core to break the interlaminar bonds.
- 8. A method of breaking interlaminar bonds between the laminations of an amorphous metal core after heat treatment, said core comprising a plurality of amorphous metal laminations formed into a shape and having an unjointed yoke portion, a jointed yoke portion having first and second ends, and a pair of leg portions, comprising the steps of:
- suspending the core with the jointed yoke portion hanging downwardly below the unjointed yoke portion;
- separating the jointed yoke portion such that the leg portions hang downwardly from the unjointed yoke portion; and
- striking the leg portions of the core to break the interlaminar bonds.
