Claims
- 1. A method of configuring a system, the method comprising steps of:receiving a first request at a first device for a first attribute of the first device; providing a first attribute of a second device in response to receiving the first request at the first device; receiving a second request at the first device for a second attribute of the first device; and providing the second attribute of the second device in response to receiving the second request at the first device.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first attribute is selected from a group comprising a vendor identifier, a device identifier, a memory aperture, and an I/O aperture the second attribute is selected from the group and is not equal to the first attribute.
- 3. A method of configuring a system, the method comprising steps of:receiving a first request at a first device for a first attribute of the first device; and providing a first attribute of a second device in response to receiving the first request at the first device; wherein the step of providing further includes providing the first attribute of the second device in response to receiving the first request at the first device when the first device meets a predefined condition; and wherein the predefined condition is a hardware strap.
- 4. A method of configuring a system, the method comprising steps of:receiving a first request at a first device for a first attribute of the first device; and providing a first attribute of a second device in response to receiving the first request at the first device; wherein the step of providing further includes providing the first attribute of the second device in response to receiving the first request at the first device when the first device meets a predefined condition; and wherein the predefined condition is stored in a read only memory location accessible by the first device.
- 5. A method of configuring a system having a plurality of devices, the method comprising the steps of:receiving a request at a first device for a first attribute of the first device; and providing the first attribute based on at least a portion of the plurality of devices in response to receiving the request at the first device; wherein the at least a portion of the plurality of devices includes at least two graphics processors; and wherein the step of providing further includes the first attribute being based on the memory aperture attributes of the at least two graphics processors.
- 6. A method of controlling multiple processing devices, the method comprising the steps of:receiving a device type request at a first device; during a first mode of operation: providing a first device type identifier from the first device in response to the device type request, wherein the first type identifier is the first device's normal device type identifier; and during a second mode of operation: providing a second device type identifier from the first device in response to the device type request, wherein the second device type identifier is different than the first device's normal device type identifier.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the first device type identifier identifies a bridge.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the second device type identifier identifies a graphics processor.
- 9. A method for providing access through a bridge, the method comprising:providing access to multiple processing devices through the bridge in a transparent mode, wherein during the transparent mode each of the multiple processing devices are visible to a host; and accessing multiple processing devices through the bridge in an encapsulated mode, wherein during the encapsulated mode the multiple processing devices are not visible to the host.
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the step of accessing multiple processing devices coupled to the bridge in the encapsulated mode further includes the host viewing the bridge as a device other than the bridge.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the multiple processing devices are graphics processors.
- 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of accessing multiple processing devices through the bridge in the encapsulated mode includes the host treating the bridge as a single graphics processor.
- 13. A bridge device comprising:a host port; a first graphics processor port; a second graphics processor port; mode indicator node; a routing module having a first port coupled to the host port, a second port coupled to the first graphics processor port, a third port coupled to the second graphics processor port, and mode indicator input; and a mode indicator module having an output coupled to the mode indicator node to indicate when the bridge device is to allow processors coupled to the first and second graphics processor ports to be viewed, and when the bridge device is to prevent processors coupled to the first and second graphics processor ports from being viewed.
- 14. The mode indicator module of claim 13, where in the mode indicator module includes a hardware strap to a voltage reference node.
- 15. The mode indicator module of claim 13, wherein the mode indicator module includes a read only memory device coupled to the mode indicator node.
