Claims
- 1. A method for supplying syrup to a post-mix beverage dispenser, comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a blow molded, plastic, multi-layer syrup container including a wall, a container opening for filling and evacuating said container surrounded by a container neck, and an air vent extending partway through said wall; said wall including a main plastic layer, and a collapsible inner plastic layer, said air vent extending completely through said main layer and said air vent being permanently open to atmosphere, such that air flows in through said air vent and in between said main layer and said collapsible layer, causing said collapsible layer to collapse as syrup is withdrawn from said container;
- (b) filling said syrup container with post-mix beverage syrup;
- (c) connecting said container opening to a post-mix beverage dispenser through a syrup line having a syrup pump therein;
- (d) pumping syrup from said syrup container to said beverage dispenser through said pump; and
- (e) collapsing said collapsible layer simultaneously with said pumping step as air enters through said air vent and as syrup is withdrawn from said collapsible layer.
- 2. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein said step of providing an air vent includes providing a plurality of separate, spaced-apart air vents, each extending completely through said main layer.
- 3. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein said collapsing step includes providing said syrup container wall with a delaminatable portion and a non-delaminatable portion, and collapsing said collapsible inner layer away from said main layer only in said delaminatable portion of said wall.
- 4. The method as recited in claim 1 including connecting a closure to said syrup container opening, and wherein said step of connecting said opening to a dispenser through a syrup line comprises connecting said syrup line to said closure.
