Claims
- 1. In a process for preparing a gas-permeable, porous film which comprises the steps of (a) mixing a polyolefin resin and an inorganic filler, (b) forming a film from the mixture and (c) stretching the resulting film to form the porous film, the combination of the step of embossing said film prior to stretching it, so as to produce a rugged pattern thereon having peaks and valleys with a depth therebetween of from 2 microns to 3 millimeters.
- 2. The process according to claim 1, wherein said stretching of the rugged patterned film is effected with a stretching ratio, on area basis, of between 1.1 and 20.
- 3. The process according to claim 1, wherein said stretching of the rugged patterned film is effected uniaxially with a stretching ratio, on area basis, of between 1.1 and 7.
- 4. The process according to claim 1, wherein said inorganic filler has an average particle size of 30 microns or less, is present in an amount of 50-500 parts by weight per 100 parts of resin and is selected from one or more of the group consisting of calcium carbonate, talc, clay, silica, magnesium carbonate, barium carbonate, magnesium sulfate, barium sulfate, calcium sulfate, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, titanium oxide, aluminum oxide and mica.
- 5. The process according to claim 4, wherein said inorganic filler has an average particle size of 0.5-5 microns and is present in an amount of 100-400 parts by weight per 100 parts of polyolefin resin.
- 6. The process according to claim 4, wherein said inorganic filler is calcium carbonate, barium sulfate or a mixture thereof.
- 7. The process according to claim 1, wherein said polyolefin resin is selected from one or more of the group consisting of polyproplene, low-density polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polybutylene, ethylene-propylene copolymers and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers.
- 8. The process according to claim 7, wherein said polyolefin resin is low-density polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, or a mixture thereof.
- 9. The process according to claim 1, wherein said gas-permeable, porous film is imparted with a moisture-permeability of 500 g/m.sup.2 /24 hours or greater.
- 10. In a process for preparing a gas-permeable, porous film, which comprises the steps of (a) mixing polyolefin resin and an inorganic filler, (b) forming a film from the mixture and (c) stretching the resulting film to form a porous film, the combination of the step of embossing on said film, prior to stretching it, a plurality of striped rugged patterns having peaks and valleys with a distance therebetween of from 0.2 to 0.9 microns.
- 11. The process according to claim 10, wherein the interval between the center line of the elevations in any one of said striped rugged patterns and the center line of the elevations in any adjacent striped rugged pattern is from 50 microns to 2 mm.
- 12. The process according to claim 10, wherein the stretching ratio, on area basis, is between 1.05 and 25.
