Claims
- 1. A reinforced cementitious structure having improved flexural strength comprising a cementitious matrix containing discrete cement particles reinforced with multifilament strands of carbon fibers characterized in that said carbon fibers are bonded to each other and to said cement particles surrounding said carbon fibers by a hydrophobic resin system which has been incorporated into said carbon fibers by impregnation and which has been cured simultaneously with said cementitious matrix.
- 2. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 1 wherein the hydrophobic resin system is an epoxy resin system comprised of an epoxy resin and a reactive epoxy resin hardener.
- 3. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 2 wherein the epoxy resin hardener is a hydrophobic fatty amine.
- 4. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 3 wherein the hydrophobic fatty amine has an amine number of from 170 to 180.
- 5. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 1 wherein the strands of carbon fibers are arranged in parallel rows.
- 6. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 5 wherein the hydrophobic resin system is an epoxy resin system comprised of an epoxy resin and a reactive epoxy resin hardener.
- 7. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 6 wherein the epoxy resin hardener is a hydrophobic fatty amine.
- 8. A reinforced cementitious structure as in claim 7 wherein the hydrophobic fatty amine has an amine number of from 170 to 180.
