Claims
- 1. A method of inducing bone formation in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of heparanase.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said heparanase is a proheparanase.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said heparanase is a processed heparanase.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject has a medical condition characterized by bone loss, reduced bone mass or bone fracture.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject has osteogenesis imperfecta.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject has osteoporosis.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject has a periodontal disease or a mucopolysaccharidoses associated bone defect.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject has a bone void.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein administering is via intrabone injection.
- 10. A pharmaceutical composition for inducing bone formation in a subject in need thereof, the pharmaceutical composition comprising as an active ingredient a therapeutically effective amount of heparanase, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 11. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, wherein said heparanase is a proheparanase.
- 12. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, wherein said heparanase is a processed heparanase.
- 13. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, contained in a container and identified in print for use in a subject having a medical condition characterized by bone loss, reduced bone mass or bone fracture.
- 14. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, contained in a container and identified in print for use in a subject having osteogenesis imperfecta.
- 15. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, contained in a container and identified in print for use in a subject having osteoporosis.
- 16. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, contained in a container and identified in print for use in a subject having a periodontal disease or a mucopolysaccharidoses associated bone defect.
- 17. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, contained in a container and identified in print for use in a subject having a bone void.
- 18. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10, formulated for administration via intrabone injection.
